Iron What Now?

Tout d’abord, je tiens à souhaiter à tous mes voisins francophones un joyeux national du Québec. Profitez de vos festivals pendant que je reste à la maison à regarder des vidéos Youtube en anglais.

Okay, now that we got that out of the way…

I got an e-mail reminder from someone that some show called Ironheart is set to debut today. My first reaction is “What the hell is an Ironheart?” The only thing that I know of with that name is that it’s a title of a Japanese superheroine porn movie that came out years ago. I never saw it myself, but I’ve heard good things. Anyway, I don’t give it another thought.

Then I frequent some comic site somewhere – name withheld to protect the guilty – and they mention something called Ironheart that’s based on a comic that apparently nobody likes… and it’s a Marvel thing. Again, I draw a complete blank.

Then I give it a little bit of thought and it hits me… oh, right, Ironheart. That thing where little black girl makes her own Iron Man suit and… apparently, nobody likes the character, but they still insist on pushing her as the next big thing. And so she gets the MCU treatment because… little black girl makes an Iron Man suit and… I don’t know.

From what I understand, this was in the can and ready to go for a couple years, but they only just put this out now because David Zazlov isn’t running Marvel and so we don’t shelf projects as tax write-offs.

So they’re debuting this series and I’m like… “Why haven’t I heard of this thing?” Granted, I’m not following this MCU stuff as deeply as most people, if at all, but usually whenever there’s a new Marvel thing coming up, it at least gets mentioned or you’d get a few trailers out of it… but all I’ve was able to find was one trailer. And look, I’ve seen the trailer. I didn’t care for it. Therefore, I’m not re-subbing to Disney+ for this one show. (I just got done watching the second season of Andor, which was largely excellent. And then the sub died right after. Fine by me.)

Whoever sent me the reminder about Ironheart… thanks for reminding me of the porn parody film. That’s my biggest takeaway from this whole deal.

P.S. – I may have figured out why I missed the Ironheart trailer… because it came out on the same day that DC Studios put out their new Superman trailer. Needless to say, I was more hyped for Superman and forgot about… what’s her face again?

Besides, Superman has a dog.

That’s a good boy.

Later.

Five Season Mission Doesn’t Quite Have The Same Ring

Source: https://trekmovie.com/2025/06/12/star-trek-strange-new-worlds-renewed-for-fifth-and-final-season/

Some guy on Facebook made the above banner. Sadly, I cut off the watermark to fit the screen. My apologies.

Anyway, it was recently announced that Strange New Worlds has been renewed for a fifth and final season… and will only be six episodes long. How many of those will be dedicated to silly gimmick episodes and making Spock look like a stooge because we don’t know good comedy or storytelling?

I have mixed feelings about this. Obviously, the fact that they’re ending it on five seasons is not much of a surprise; that seems to be the magic number with these things nowadays. I miss the days when Trek shows lasted seven seasons and each season had about 26 episodes a piece. That gave you more than enough room to do both the serious world and character building stuff to go along with the silly stuff.

Six episodes, though? Those had better be some amazing episodes for a final season… maybe give us an episode where Captain Pike’s hair grows so tall and stiff at an exponential rate it shatters the fabric of space-time. Or, hell, do a remake of Spock’s Brain. All the Spock episodes on this show seem like they were written by the same people shouting “Brain and brain! What is Brain?”

Still, Trekkies should be happy that the 23rd century retread is over and we can move on to new ideas and new concepts. Going forward, as they say…

**Paramount dangles upcoming Starfleet Academy show**

NO! WE DON’T WANT THAT TRASH! WHERE’S STAR TREK LEGACY, YOU HACK FRAUDS?!

That sounds about right, yeah?

Strange New World’s third season premieres next month.

Missed Opportunity?

Yeah, this has been out for a while, but for those who missed it, AEW wrestling veteran Kenny Omega cosplays as the four upcoming DLC fighters for Street Fighter 6… I got a chuckle out of it, so I don’t dislike this.

With that in mind and considering all the promotional stuff he does for Capcom, it amazes me that they never thought to include Kenny Omega as a playable character in one of these Street Fighter games. Seems like a bit of a missed opportunity here.

“But what about Austin Creed?” you ask.

He can try out for the next King Of Fighters and he can parade the game around for the next WWE Blood Money show from Saudi Arabia.

In the meantime, news of my recovery hit a bit of a snag, as recently, I somehow survived perhaps the deadliest move in all of sports entertainment: the roll up. It’s banned in a hundred and fifty four states as well as several indigenous nations. I don’t want to necessarily get in the ring because I’m not a fucking idiot and this last blurb isn’t true.

Except for the roll-up being the deadliest move in pro wrestling. Tony Khan is a pussy for taking a piledriver named after Stuttering Dave Meltzer.

Revenge’s 20th… And Awakens’ 10th…

So I didn’t mention anything because I was busy with other stuff and unfortunately, the timing didn’t quite work out, but last month, Revenge Of The Sith – the third and final film in the Star Wars prequel trilogy – turned twenty years old. Some may recall that I did a musings on Attack Of The Clones when that film turned twenty… and I had intended to do the same for Revenge.

Alas, things went pear-shaped.

Things are going to be calming down in a couple days where I can just relax and take a pause from recovery periods and other things, so I may pull out my old DVD of Revenge and give it another watch. At some point, I’ll give the film a similar musings that I gave Clones and Jedi.

Meanwhile, in a few scant months, we’ll be celebrating (or condemning, depending on your mileage) the tenth anniversary of The Force Awakens – the seventh live-action Star Wars movie, the first film in the divisive Sequel Trilogy and also the first film of the Disney-era of Star Wars content creation. In all honesty, I have not watched that film in years… I want to say since it first came out, but I imagine that I did see give it one more watch before the final episode of the sequels. I actually remember liking that one, even if it felt like we’ve been here before. Of course, that was before all the content that came along and soured my taste for anything Star Wars… well, almost anything. Some of the comics and most of the video and computer games still hold up.

I’d imagine I’ll give that a watch and do a musings on that. Who knows what that will look like? Will it still be good or will the sins of what came afterwards color my perceptions a bit? All I know is that it gave us a meme (pictured above) and that’s what we’re basing a new set of films upon… which I have thoughts on as well, but I’m saving those for the back pocket.

23 Years Ago… TNA Was Born

And what a long way it has come since then, with all its ups and downs…

I’ve little to say for the occasion other than congrats to TNA on still being around despite all the times you should have gone out of business. The fact that you’ll live long enough to reach the status of cockroaches, Twinkies, and constant Street Fighter II updates is something to be commended, even if the road getting there had a few bumps.

I’ll be giving the upcoming Slammiversary show a watch and possibly a musings down the road, but in the meantime, if you want some of my thoughts on TNA stuff, you can check out the various Impact and PPV musings that I’ve posted over the years – a wide range of emotional states, I’m sure.

They Keep Bringing Back The Other Guy (Or Do They?)

Source: https://www.thesun.co.uk/tv/35297169/doctor-who-reunite-billie-piper-david-tennant-tv/

Watch out! It’s the return of Doctor Boo!

I wanted to sit on this for a bit before I said anything… and honestly, I should specify that until it’s been confirmed, take the above article with a grain of salt.

That having been said, the possibility of the Billie Piper regen at the end of the last episode being a vehicle for another David Tennant comeback… you know what? I wouldn’t put it past them at this point. The ratings are dogshit and so let’s go back to the well… and we’ve got an anniversary to boot that we can use as an excuse to do this very thing.

The question, I suppose, would be how many people would bite if this were to be the case? It’s no secret that people are dropping the show like a bad habit due to a variety of factors. How many of those people are dropping the show because of the Disney involvement, making the show more “woke” or something to that extent? How many of those people feel that the show simply isn’t good anymore and are moving on to other things? Are those people going to bite onto the carrot that is the alleged Doctor/Rose Tyler reunion and stick around for the long haul if it’s the same guy responsible for the past two seasons/series/years/whatevers worth of largely terrible stories being told?

I guess we’ll see what happens from here… but I do know one thing. The main problem with Doctor Who remains the creative force behind the show, who can’t seem to be able to produce a good show worth a damn. But twenty years ago, he did produce a good show that was worth a damn and got good writers to write good stories that has allowed that show to endure for years to come. Now that show has fallen off the rails and who knows if it’s going to continue or not?

We’ll see, but if I were to vote… I’d vote for a long hiatus until we find a new creative team that’s worth a damn.

RAW (June 9th, 2025) – Nobody Can Handle The Truth

It’s the RAW after Money In The Bank, where a couple people won briefcases that they’ll have to carry around for months on end until their eventual scripted cash-in takes place where they will win whatever title they will challenge in cheap fashion… oh and R-Truth was hired back after his contract ran out earlier in the month and fans protested because WWE wouldn’t re-sign him.

Well, they did re-sign him. And the first thing they did was have him cut a promo where he adopted a more serious demeanor and is now going by his real name. Yes, it took a contract expiration and a fan riot for WWE to free Ron Killings from this one-note joke character that he’s been playing for years and give him one last hurrah as the serious competitor that you only really saw ages ago when he was in TNA or even early on in his last WWE stint. Where they go from here is anyone’s guess, but whatever happens from hereon out, I hope it was worth it.

In other news, GUNTHER made Jey Uso pass out to win back his World title and end this YEET experiment that has been going nowhere. I’d imagine they need GUNTHER to hold a title so that they can fast track that rumored Goldberg match, but in any event, Jey Uso as the World Champion was worth a shot, but clearly not something that had anyone excited. Oh well.

Also, Nikki Bella made her return, teased future involvement, and got into a spat with Liv Morgan, who is supposed to be the heel in this program, but actually got more cheers than Nikki. That can’t be a good sign… also, the backstage bit where Nikki and IYO SKY is exchanging pleasantries and IYO claiming that Nikki “paved the way for the rest of us” felt so dirty and so wrong. I’m not going to deny Nikki was a major player back in the day, but let’s be real; the Bellas on top was not exactly a high point in the women’s division and it took the influx of NXT talent to really give the WWE women some actual worth. There is a reason why a lot of those Diva segments back in the day were called “designated piss breaks.”

Also, we have tournament matches for the King and Queen of the Ring titles, whose finals will be held at the next WWE Blood Money show at Saudi Arabia. And speaking of which, CM Punk – who once told some WWE Superstar to go suck on a blood money soaked dick in Saudi Arabia – will be challenging John Cena for the title at said Blood Money event. What a world we live in.

And that’s about it, really. To tell the truth – no pun intended – I didn’t watch the show… I’m only going by bits and pieces I’ve seen online as well as some recaps here and there. Haven’t renewed my Netflix subscription because I’m presently in the middle of a Paramount run, which may or may not continue if this Strange New Worlds thing ends up being worth a follow for the next couple months.

A friend did offer a recording of this Friday’s Smackdown show if I wanted to watch. Apparently, the big John Cena vs. Ron Killings rematch is taking place there. Should be fun to do a musings on… maybe give Impact a bit of a spotlight in a couple weeks.

My Answers To The Vince Russo Mark Challenge Or Whatever

So last month, I posted a screen cap of former WWE/WCW/TNA creative person, alleged hated person, and hack writer Vince Russo flashing a piece of paper showing off his list of criteria for what he considers a wrestling mark. I mentioned that I would eventually post my answers and here we are… several weeks later.

Why did I take so long to follow up on this? I had better things to do in life.

But in any event, the moment only one person has been waiting for… how much of a mark am I according to Vince Russo’s list of criteria? The answers await after the break.

Weathered

It’s been a while since I did a health update… and there’s a reason for that… there’s nothing new to say.

I’ve been doing monthly treatments for my bowels; an infusion through the veins of some drug whose name I can’t recall, but it’s been doing wonders in some ways and aggravating in others. I haven’t felt much pain unless I ate something that didn’t agree with me, but my stools have become a bit less solid, as it were. It also doesn’t help that I’ve had some stressful periods that have hindered recovery at times.

Still, it’s not so bad. Other than a few sour periods, it’s been business as usual. Going about my usual activities, I’ve been getting some stuff done, my appetite has gotten better, and I’ve been able to take some walks without getting exceedingly tired. I’ve had more good days than I’ve had bad, but there are times when it feels like things are regressing.
