Random Thought About… Under Siege

Last night, Space channel was showing an old Steven Seagal flick from the 90s called Under Siege. What a damn good movie that was and I might actually consider picking up a DVD or BluRay if I come across it for dirt cheap. Light on plot, but the action was top-notch for the time and it was a thrill watching it. No complaints in that regard; I was thouroughly entertained throughout the film.

Anyway, it just occurred to me some time later that the name of Seagal’s character in that movie is Casey Ryback and that he’s a cook. Interestingly enough, in WWE, there is a character called Ryback whose catchphrase involves feeding him more… stuff.

So work with me here. In the 90s, a character named Ryback is a cook. In the 2010s, a character named Ryback likes to eat… go figure.

I wonder if there’s someone on the creative team who was a fan of Under Siege and… nah, that’d be giving those monkeys too much credit.

Homebrew… Tastes Like Chicken…

So, if I may get back to that statement I was going to make a couple days ago before it digressed into something else and totally made forget what I was going to say…

With the recent announcement that Nintendo is going to be phasing out the more worthless Wii online services at the tail end of June, it seems like the writing is on the wall before support for Nintendo’s miracle machine goes the way of the original Xbox. So… since the eventually will come when Nintendo will drop all support for the console sooner or later to focus their efforts on the Wii U, I’ve decided to take the plunge and add in that Homebrew Channel thing that’s been the rage with the kiddies. I’m not going to go into the details of how I achieved this; this is information that you can pretty much attain yourself.

Nice little thing, they got going. Aside from a couple emulators (that I use solely for playing ROM hacks), I found this one homebrew game that I was really digging until I realized it was a demo. A shame, really. I would really like more of that.

Of course, I wouldn’t have known any of these if Vince hadn’t announced it so bombastically.

Set looks nice, but where’s DDP in this? He’s a Jersey boy, too.

Foley on HOF broadcast after much bitching done

Largely due to numerous complaints, Mick Foley is apparently going to be on the Hall of Fame broadcast on Tuesday. Foley credited the change to Santa Claus talking to Vince McMahon. I can’t confirm that was the real source of the change, and it’s more likely the negative reaction the company has gotten over it the past two days.

Good idea: Dedicating your one hour broadcast to Bruno Sammartino, Donald Trump, and Trish Stratus.
Bad idea: Leaving Mick Foley out of it.
Good idea: Adding Mick Foley to broadcast.
Bad idea: Not cancelling the HHH/Brock Lesnar snorefest… or the Rock/Cena snorefest… or not shitcanning babyface Miz.
And why do the… Nope, not gonna bother.
