Hogan Doesn't Know Best

If I could offer a piece of advice to the Hulkster… please, for the love of God, fuck off social media. Not on a permanent basis, mind you, but for the foreseeable future. At least until this whole thing blows over… which might take longer because of your constant retweeting of other comments that were designed to suck yo… wait, that’s an image nobody wants.

Seriously, though, Hogan’s retweeting people telling him he’s not a racist seems more like an attempt to cover up the fact that he really is. And for those wondering, I’m not implying that he is. I just want him off social media so he could deal with this behind closed doors. Sometimes, laying low and be silent is the best strategy to rehab the strained image.

Random Thoughts On… The Upcoming Power Rangers Movie

Considering your vehement hatred for what you consider the Voldemort of Power Rangers amateur productions, I was just wondering what your ideal Power Rangers movie would be. Would you make it darker or keep it light-hearted?

That’s actually a good question, because it sort of brings to light the expectations some people would have for this thing.

Lionsgate, for those who are not in the know, is set to produce and release a new Power Rangers film sometime next year; a reboot, as it were. And much like anything we know nothing about, there is speculation, there’s conjecture, there’s very little to work with. And in between the time it was announced and the day it gets released, there have been and there will be little unofficial, unauthorized films offering their take of the material and then, in predictable fashion, all of this will dark and grim and gritty and claim to be Power Rangers for fans who have grown up when, in fact, what they produced is actually juvenile, generic, low-brow schlock that makes the KIDS show seem sophisticated in comparison.

As for what I’d like to see in the Lionsgate production… well, naturally something a little more mature and a little more refined than what you’d get on the series and that doesn’t necessarily mean making it grim or dark or bloody or stupid or moronic, but rather something that gives the movie a little more depth and substance than just merely the cheese. If nothing else, I want to go into a Power Rangers movie knowing that I’ll get something from that film that I wouldn’t get from the television show, which, for all intents and purposes, would most likely still see production around that time.

But at the same time, I don’t think they should completely wash away the silly aspects of the thing either because then you’re taking away the essence of the show; kids change into spandex-donning heroes, wield fantastical high-tech weaponry, control giant colossal mechanical warriors, fight off the bad guys, and throw a bit of a message in there. The concept is silly and ridiculous and rather than try to shy away from that like an embarrassment, they should embrace it. There should be a balance between giving it a bit more depth and substance to make it feel a bit mature and also keeping the levity and fun that could be had with the concept.

In other words, give me a Power Rangers movie that feels like Power Rangers, but different enough that it would be a unique take.

Random Thoughts On… The Infamous “Agony In Pink” Fic

A long while back, someone had asked me if I had seen the rather infamous Agony In Pink fanfic, the somewhat dark fanfic involving OG Pinky being kidnapped and subject to some rather “harsh” treatment. And unfortunately, I had to admit that yes, I have, in fact, read Agony In Pink. I’ve not only read Agony In Pink, but I also sampled the Agony In Pink remake, the Agony In Yellow spin-off, and Holly’s House Invasion, an original “adult” fic from the same author. And all that literature had resulted in a significant loss of sanity that I am still recovering from to this day.

For those who don’t know what any of that is, it’s essentially extreme adult content… but with Power Rangers. Two of them focusing on vintage Pink and another focusing on the Yellow Ranger from Power Rangers in Space. It’s not the most pleasant thing to read, regardless of whether you’re into that sort of kink or not. This was essentially garbage shlock in written form before morons with no creative juices made their own schlock of the same vein (but nowhere near the same extremes.)

If you insist on tracking this stuff down, do so at your own risk. But I ain’t helping you. I’m not sure the new set-up would appreciate that sort of thing.

Funny how WWE shitcans Hogan for racist comments, yet HHH, who did a racist angle with Booker T at Wrestlemania, is still gainfully employed. Also, Vinnie Mac once shot similar racial slurs on WWE TV. Why don’t we give him the Benoit treatment too? Not to mention all them Hall Of Famers who have said much worse. Maybe we should get rid of them too. And hey, while everyone is distracted, why don’t we sneak in Chyna into the Hall? She might’ve done porn, but at least she isn’t racist.

“WWE has a zero tolerance policy on racism.” Right, that’s why Alberto Del Rio was fired while the racist who offend(ed) him still has a job. Don’t get me started on all them racist gimmicks over the years. MexiCools. Half-Blackface Piper. Muhammad Hassan. Puerto Rican Matadors. Saba Simba. Kamala. Repackaging a Latino wrestler into a white dude who says “If it ain’t white, it ain’t right.” The list goes on and on.

Yeah, so that was a thing.

A Teaser Thing For That Electro Woman and Dyna Girl Remake Thing

Basically a teaser video for a reboot/remake of an old television show from the 1970s… that I have never seen. Seriously, the only semblance of Electra Woman/Dyna Girl I’ve seen was that unaired pilot from the early 2000s that’s floating around YouTube, so I’m probably not the ideal person to gauge a proper opinion on this… of which I have none since my only thought on the matter was an unassuming and rather disinterested meh.

I guess this might be worthwhile for fans of the old show, so that’s something…

Hold On A Minute…

Been skimming through the Tubes and found clips of last night’s newest Total Divas thing and decided to check it out… I have to shudder at the the thought of Nikki Cena telling Red-Haired Lady that none of the Divas thinks of her as a wrestler… which is funny because that’s the kind of reputation that a lot of the Divas (including some name choices on this very program) has gotten for themselves. There’s a reason I used to ask the question, “Why do the Bella Twins still have jobs?” And it wasn’t in an attempt to be funny or start a meme.

Why is this show still on the air again?
