Why don’t you give him a few views to see him bitch about DVD cases again?

Seriously, dude. ENOUGH WITH THE DVD CASES! DVD CASES ARE BULLSHIT! WE GET IT! MOVE ON TO SOMETHING ELSE, DAMMIT!!!!!

EDIT: Some time later, I posted the following comment on the video question… obviously, more calmer and less rambling than my initial statement.

As far as the video goes, I felt this was an unnecessary rehash of the first Bullshit video and not as enjoyable. Watching the video, I thought, “Okay, fine. DVD cases are bullshit. Fine, we know that. Next.”

I thought the first revisit on the topic (Episode 11, I believe) more than covered all the reasonings as to why anything DVD-related (cases, endless splash screens, etc) might be bullshit, but this really added nothing new. Maybe the next Bullshit video was cover something new instead of something old… or is it blue?

Sorry, James. Not feeling this one.

The OTHER Overly Long And Completely Unnecessary AVGN 100 Post

Hello, friends… that’s how people usually open these things, right?

Some time ago, I posted my words for what was going to be a running video commentary of AVGN 100, the 100th episode of Angry Video Game Nerd web series covering the Robotic Operating Buddy peripheral for NES. I will let link to that piece of business and let you read it for yourselves, but to make a long story short, I didn’t like it. Therefore, it sucked.

Well, you’d think I’d have enough to say about that piece of business, but sure enough, that is not the case. Hence today’s post of word wall. I honestly wish I could tell you what compelled me to write more words on the matter, but truth be told, I just felt like it. Not the smartest or shrewdest reasoning, but it’s my blog, nobody is reading this thing anyway, and so why not vent for future generations?

Just a word of warning; if you are a fan of the individual I am about to talk about and can’t stand negativity of any kind, kindly see yourself click the Back button on your browser because I am going to be particularly brutal. Especially as it pertains to an individual who I have followed for six years but chances are that will not be the case anymore. I don’t hate the person; I wish him all the best, but I hate this latest product that he has put out… primarily because it’s not good.

The Overly Long AVGN 100 Post Based On An Aborted VIdeo Commentary

There has been much hype and speculation as to what the 100th episode of the Angry Video Game Nerd is going to be about. Most people thought it would be E.T. Others thought it would be ROB. Personally, I was hoping he would do something totally unexpected and come up with something special. When the episode came out, I sat down and watched it. I hated it. I hated it to a point where I had prepared a script for a future video log. Cooler heads prevailed and so the script was posted on a blog somewhere.

This is my summary of the review after another few viewings… and I still don’t like this episode. I think it’s a pretty pisspoor review and one of the most abysmally produced episodes. If James Rolfe were to shit into a bag and plaster it on the Internet, you’d get this monstrosity.

A little word of warning before we begin; the following overview/commentary is vulgar at times and considerably scathing. My intent is not to cause offence to anyone within the Cinemassacre camp or anyone who might actually like the episode, but to give a very blunt review and commentary regarding my viewing and observations of this 100th episode. This is not a review of the overall AVGN franchise and the direction it has gone, nor is it an attempt to instigate any kind of stupid flame war or hate thread; this is a review of the 100th AVGN and that alone. I may go off on tangent at times, but only as it relates to the 100th episode alone.

Hey, if you like the episode and thought it was the greatest thing ever, then more power to you. It means that absolutely nothing I say here will change your outlook on the product whatsoever and therefore… I honestly don’t know why you’re still reading this. Nothing I say is going to change your mind and it should be only fair to warn you that nothing you say will make me change mine.

And if you feel you absolutely MUST comment, I only ask that you keep it clean and intelligible.

Are we cool on that? Then let’s get on with it.

If You Can't Think Of A Good April Fools' Joke, Do An Irate Gamer Parody!

Guru Larry did a jokie video about Irate Gamer joining Blistered Thumbs… which was promptly removed from the BT site. Probably the first smart thing that Joe has done… maybe he isn’t that big of an idiot, after all.

Meanwhile, Linkara throws not ONE, but THREE jokey videos.

The first is a review of One More Day… which is just a minute of his bear sitting on a couch. Already, that bear is a far better reviewer than Linkara is these days.

The second review is on an issue of Titans. Here’s a summary; opening credits, short pause, IT SUCKS, end credits. Quite possibly the BEST Linkara video I’ve seen in years.

Finally, the main event joke, where he reviews the first issue of Hamilton Comics’ Mighty Morphin Power Rangers comic… oh wait, he’s doing an Irate Gamer parody. How droll.

What? Was Gamedude too sophisticated for you chuckleheads?

AVGN 100

I had a blog entry ready for this, but I’m going to hold on that. Instead, here’re some comments I posted on a YouTube channel;

No, I don’t think it’s hasty or mean at all to say that IG’s ROB video is better than AVGN’s ROB video. I think it’s the truth. And if you enjoyed parts of it or even the whole thing, good for you. I’m glad you got some enjoyment out of it. But like I said in a previous comment, this practically tore my soul away. It depressed me to no end. In fact, this could very well be the one that kills off any interest I had remaining in the AVGN series. And this is coming from someone who has been following this series since its online debut in 2006. Even when the quality started to wane and I began to lose interest in the [angry reviewing] genre, I’d still watch some AVGN. But now…? Why bother? It seems that for the 100th episode, he decides to go down a path others have gone… and fail so miserably that it hurts.

Whatever remote sliver of credibility AVGN had as a reviewer DIED with this video. Whatever spark of creativity that was present with the AVGN series DIED with this video. There is no way in hell anyone can convince me that James Rolfe has the creative drive to push the series to new heights when, for the 100th episode, he opts to rehash the “Evil ROB” horseshit that has been DONE TO DEATH already. It’s especially telling when the Irate Gamer does a BETTER job with exposition and narrative for a NOTHING episode than Rolfe did for his hundredth. This episode makes the Crazy Castle episode seem like Citizen Kane in comparison!

And if this crap is what he considers to be a worthy 100th episode, then I absolutely DREAD what he has in store for the upcoming AVGN movie.

Note To Motherfucking Mike Fucking Matei: Shut Fucking The Fuck Up

So Mike Matei uploaded yet another high-larious (by which I mean otherwise) ad-enabled glitch video, this time showing off a couple glitches from the first two Mega Man games. The subject matter piqued my interest and the narrator’s incessent usage of adding “fucking” every ten seconds pretty much killed my interest.

Look, if you’re trying to show off something cool, then that’s cool. But try to do it without sounding like a fucking idiot. That will turn people off… the fanboys will eat it up nicely, but I’d be hard pressed to refer to them as actual living people.

Sorry, kids. It’s the truth.

What A Shitload of STFU

The following is a fictional conversation between myself and an Angry Video Game Nerd fan (referred to as Fanboy). Here we go:

Fanboy: Irate Gamer is a rip-off of AVGN! He plagiarizes James’ work!

DTM666: Okay. I’ve heard this accusation before. I believe there is some merit to it. So what evidence do yo have to support this claim of plagiarism.

Fanboy: Well, in one video, he says “What a shitload of fuck!”

DTM666: Yeah, so?

Fanboy: Well… that’s like AVGN’s catchphrase.

DTM666: Yeah… and?

Fanboy: Well… AVGN made that phrase up.

DTM666: Are you fucking retarded?

Fanboy: No, I don’t think I am. Why do you ask?

DTM666: Because you’d have to be if that’s the best evidence you have to offer. Or maybe really drunk. Or stupid. Possibly all three.

The above conversation… never happened. And I did not intend to insult any handicapable people out there. Even they would know better.

Note for future reference; don't cameo Angry Joe… ever.

Usually, I like sitting through a Linkara video… when he sticks with the “review” portion and doesn’t go into zany “storyline” bits where he plays a billion characters or whatever. Those are pretty bad, but when it comes to the main review bits, he makes them fairly humorous and enjoyable… and he doesn’t use very naughty words, which is quite refreshing for once.

So recently, I tried watching the Linkara review for the Justice League: Cry For Justice mini-series… the latest video, I think it was. And after the obligatory ad, the first thing I saw was Angry Joe.

Then I pushed the Back button on Chrome.

Make of that as you will.

Okay, you know what? I have to admit; that’s a rather neat little trick to pull off and it’s probably worth replicating for those with plenty of time and patience on their hands. It was a rather nice waste of ninety seconds. I like that.

What I don’t like is having to sit through a thirty second ad to watch a video that’s only three times as long, and another ad that’s also pretty long after the end of the video. I can understand putting in ads for longer videos and whathaveyou, but for short stuff like, disable the damn ads. What’s being shown here is pretty cool, but not worth the extra minute worth of ads I have to sit through.

Free entertainment holds no weight here – there’s lots of free entertainment out there and chances are there’s probably an equivalent video to what’s featured here without the ads. Even if it’s a lower quality…

But all negativity aside… that’s a neat trick, Mike. Hope you’ll do more of these… without the ads.
