Two Years Since Sacha Left Us… It Still Hurts

Valentine’s Day is a bit of a bitter pill to swallow these days. Normally, you’d associate that with loved ones and celebrating the enduring love shared among family, friends, and close ones.

For me, Valentine’s Day was the day that Sacha left us.

I had a scheduled post that day, announcing the No Mercy deal coming in a week. It never occurred to me to post something about Sacha until the day before. But when it came time to sit down and actually think of something to put together… I just froze. What was there to say other than I miss my girl?

As I was rummaging through some hard disks clearing away some stuff, I came across some old videos of Sacha that I haven’t come across in years. Nothing special, just her doing here thing. Stuff that I might have show here before, but it’s a reminder of happier times. A time when she was still young and healthy. And that’s when I started to feel a bit queasy. Even two years later, it still hurts.

I miss you, kid.

Remembering Sacha… One Year Later

A year has passed since we had to put Sacha to sleep. We still miss the old girl. So to celebrate her life, we’ll be uploading two videos today and tomorrow. Today’s video was recorded about a week after we brought Sacha into our home back in 2010. It’s very brief, which is why there’s also a clip of Sacha jumping the couch for the very first time a couple months later.

Sunday Gimmick Table #30 – Atari 2600+ Console

It’s an Atari 2600 looking machine that can also play 7800 games… once you’ve updated the firmware a year later.

I’ve been sitting on this one for quite a while and a large part of that was due to this being the final video to (briefly) feature Sacha in relatively good spirits before her unfortunate passing earlier this year. I miss the ol’ girl and her loss is still felt. But then I got around to doing a firmware update and filmed an extra bit with Maya in tow. So this is less about showcasing a piece of hardware and more of a proverbial passing of the dog bowl.

As to whether I’m getting the 7800+ or not? We’ll see about that one, but right now, I’m in no rush. This will do just fine.

Sacha Home Movies 2023-07-24 – Frolicking In The Yard

This was recorded last July and is basically Sacha running around the yard, sniffing grass and looking for spots to relieve herself. It’s the last recorded video I have of her where she was full of energy and joy, just enjoying the outdoors on one of the few summer days that wasn’t scorching hot. I haven’t seen this footage since I first recorded it and yeah, it still hurts to watch… because these are moments that will never happen again.

The planned tribute video should be ready to go next Saturday, as other things came up during the weekend. However, regular output should resume tomorrow with a new open that’ll stick around for the rest of the month, by which point… we’ll see.

Sacha Home Movies 2012-08-12 – Doggy Reviews China Syndrome

From 2012, here’s a video of Sacha “reviewing” an old Atari game called China Syndrome. I had a bunch of these short videos filmed that were of a similar ilk and even uploaded a couple years ago… but I figured the joke would run dry sooner or later.

The tribute video should be up sometime this weekend and then it’s business as usual starting next week.
