State Of The Blog – September 2023

Note to self… need to stop scheduling incomplete posts for the future.

Anyway, after a long, protracted road, we finally hit 1000 reviews. It’s been a fun time, but I’m glad that it’s finally over… now we take a bit of a break this week and we’ll keep going afterwards. In the meantime, we’ve got some minor housekeeping to take care of.

REVIEWS
Reviews will resume next week and should proceed on a Tuesday-Friday upload schedule. Don’t expect anything “big” as far as what’s being reviewed, as I’m mostly finishing up some stuff that’s been on the backburner for a while. I’m also somewhat planning ahead on stuff that I want to prep for 2024 so that things turn out a bit more “smoothly.” On a sidebar, I am considering taking requests for a short while and turning that into a gimmick month of sorts. I’m working out the kinks on how I want to take these requests, but people want me to review stuff for some reason. So I’m working on that.

PPV MUSINGS
PPV Musings have slowed down considerably over the past month. I’ll be honest; I haven’t been keeping up. I’ve seen the All In show, but the musings won’t be ready for another week or so, especially in light of the recent Punk news. I’m not sure if I’m going to be watching All Out, but I made a note to check out last night’s Payback show from WWE. I still have a couple WWF 2000 PPVs to bang out sooner or later. We’ll see how things go.

POWER RANGERS REFLECTIONS
I know this has been largely dormant, but I want to bring this series of lookbacks back. I want to look at Cosmic Fury, but don’t know if I’m going to do it episode by episode or do it all in one shot since it’s going up on Netflix in one-shot. I do know that I’m going to have to catch up on Dino Fury since that’s important. While I’m not sure of it happening soon, it is something I want to bring up for 2024.

On that note…

PREPPING FOR 2024
2023 has been a trying year and while we’ve got some stuff out here and there, there’s also been prevailing circumstances that have derailed entire plans. With that in mind, I’ve been putting together some stuff that I’m hoping we’ll see the light of day in 2024, including a redo of the entire Ramblemania series that will be consistent with the recent Musings format. This may also include the return of other dormant projects.

Anyway, things will be picking up. What that actually entails is another story, but hopefully, the content train won’t totally derail.

State Of The Blog – August 2023

The Road To 1000… has been delayed due to illness.
Normally, the last five reviews would be up this week… but this past Sunday, I was hit with some major stomach aches and was practically bed ridden for the past couple days. Good news is that I’ve recovered a bit. Bad news is that plans have changed once again.
So the reviews are being pushed back or spread out a bit. These reviews are mostly done save for last minute editing and a final review before rendering. As soon as I’ve got something ready to announce, I will let you all know.
As for other stuff, 21 Years Ago In TNA is somehow still a thing. Everything else is up in the air.
I’m sorry about all this. I really wanted to nail that August 4th date, I’ve been pushing reviews out to try and make that date as best as I could, but once again, life finds a way to make plans go awry. Hence the moral of our story… don’t plan ahead.
Anyway, will follow up with an update in the future.
EDIT 2023-08-06: Never mind, here’s the set schedule of Reviews…
Review #996 – The Legend Of Zelda: Link’s Awakening (Game Boy)
Due Wednesday, August 9th, 2023
Review #997 – The Legend Of Zelda: Link’s Awakening DX (Game Boy Color)
Due Thursday, August 10th, 2023
Review #998 – The Legend Of Zelda: Link’s Awakening (Switch)
Due Friday, August 11th, 2023
Review #999 – REDACTED
Due Tuesday, August 15th, 2023
Review #1000 – REDACTED
Due Friday, August 18th, 2023
From there, reviews will take a two-week break before resuming on Friday, September 1st with a review of Illusion Of Gaia for SNES… and then a bunch of seemingly random shit that was actually planned ahead until plans change and you end up with actual random shit.

State Of The Blog – July 2023

Happy Canada Day.
This is just a quick update, as I’m presently undergoing some technical issues that’s been slowing things down considerably, but for what it’s worth, the road to Review #1000 is on track. The schedule might be out of whack here and there, but it’s going to happen one way or another.
Aforementioned technical issues has also pretty much cancelled this month’s edition of the DTM-Cast. I’ll see about doing one at the end of the month, but worst case scenario is a new episode is coming around Labor Day weekend in September. I’ve got some stuff recorded, but then shit happens and plans change. Anyway, we’ll see on that front.
In the meantime, there’s 21 Years Ago In TNA that’s going on for a bit, a couple classic WWF 2000 PPV Musings and of all the recent PPV/PLE/POS shows that took place this past month, the only one I’ve seen is the Forbidden Door one last night… so somewhere along the way, there will be musings on that.
That’s about it. Later.

State Of The Blog – June 2023

Back from hiatus… on the blog front, at least.

Not going to go into any further personal or family details other than things are improving and looking a little better by the day. However, content on the blog – at least for the moment – will be minimal. The most you’re likely to get are weekly classic PPV Musings and the usual video reviews, which will be starting up next Monday, June 19th and will begin the last countdown to #1000 – I’d go with “final”, but Europa might sue. If anything else pops up, that’ll be a bonus, but the focus is getting these reviews up and running before moving on to other things.

In any event, no formal schedule for reviews or musings has been finalized, but classic musings will cover the WWF 2000 Pay-Per-View shows that I didn’t already muse on in the past and if I end up watching any current shows and decide to do a post on those, I’ll do that too. As far as what the reviews will cover… well, I’ve got a couple ideas, but I’m working backwards here, which means the stuff towards the end (a.k.a. the really big and important shit) is on the verge of completion while those set to be released a week away is still in the editing stage. Don’t worry; we don’t get to the major stuff until July.

Anyway, that’s the update. A couple things might pop up this week, but I don’t know what yet.

Later.

State Of The Blog – May 2023

Well, the month of May is upon us, which means we’re done with the daily A.I. Paint postings. I may bang out a few more of these every so often, but not in the frequency that we’ve seen last month. This thing could also be useful for some smaller stuff, but struggling artists can rest assured that when it comes to the bigger projects, I won’t be using any A.I. Paint Program to produce

That’s what the Google Search engine is for.

We’ll go into the “finer” details after the break, but to make a long story short, this month is going to be relatively light on material. On the video front, it’ll be your regularly scheduled review fodder to go along with a House Show gimmick and possibly one or two other videos if all the pieces fall in place. Written posts will be even more sporadic this month, but maybe things will pick up in June. We’ll see.

State Of The Blog – March 2023

Quick little update for the month and that’s about it.

First off, video reviews will uploaded every Tuesday and Friday for the next month. Nothing major planned on the horizon, though I’m hoping for something special to come up towards the tail end of the month. Won’t say anything until we get there, however.

PPV Musings will be posted every Wednesday, as per usually the case. This month, I’ll be covering the AEW PPVs I missed out on last year before eventually tackling this weekend’s Revolution PPV. If I end up watching an weekly show, I should have some thoughts on it a day or two later.

In case anyone cares, no, I will not be watching Ring Of Honor. Not that there was much interest beforehand, but to stick the show behind the paywall gives me even less incentive to pursue that show.

I want to try and get a Sunday Gimmick Table out this month. This one’s going to be a different beast from the usual format, because it also features archival footage that you probably haven’t seen before unless you’ve been around these parts since the dawn of time. I’d recommend lowering your expectations, otherwise.

Got a couple addition bits in the works. Might not be up this month, but could be up next month. I am hoping to expand the palette so that it goes beyond just gaming and rasslin, which seems to be the rut this thing is stuck with.

There will be a DTM-Cast at the end of the month and it’ll open with the long-awaited (not really) Q&A. I may also continue my thoughts on the Picard series going on now and by the time we reach the halfway point, I might turn that into a post you can read.

Other stuff might pop up… key word being might.

State Of The Blog – February 2023

A bit late to the party, but I’ve been busy with other stuff. Here’s your monthly state of the blog.

Game Review Notes
The next couple weeks will see three reviews uploaded each, which should bring the count to 950 game reviews done. After that, game reviews will be up every Tuesday and Friday… barring any prevailing circumstances, of course. This week’s batch of reviews will cover a trilogy of games, while the following week’s trifecta reviews will begin the journey through a storied Nintendo franchise. I had a much different plan in motion for the next couple weeks, but I had an epiphany of sorts and shifted gears to something that won’t break my brain.

Sunday Gimmick Table
There will be a new Sunday Gimmick Table next Sunday and it’ll involve something I’ve touched on in the past. That’s as far as I’ll go. As to what comes afterwards? Who knows?
General Blog Notes
The PPV Musings page has been updated with links to the recent Musings that I’ve posted over the past couple years. So everything should be up to date. Beyond that, I’ve been easing up on the phantom posts. There’s stuff on the side, but I’m holding that off for much later down the road. You’ll see why eventually.
Not much else to add here. There’s some other stuff in the works, but whether it comes to fruition is another story.

State Of The Blog – January 2023 (Two Weeks Of Hiatus)

happy New Year, everyone. Hope your holidays were as safe and festive as they were happy.

Anyway, first couple weeks of January will be nothing but radio silence. In fact, there will be nothing posted during this time up until January 17th, which will feature the first review of 2023. From there, I’m hoping to start building some semblance of regularity with these posts and trying to get some semblance of a functional schedule up and running. Until then, take care.

(2024 Update: Unless you’re reading this from the new blog, in which case, welcome, and enjoy the few AEW Dynamite Musings that were written back then and never published until now because I forgot about them. Oops.)

State Of The Blog – December 2022

The last update of the year is going to be brief. Sadly, sickness and stress had derailed a month’s worth of videos, so we’re going to have to make up for lost time. Don’t know how much that will entail, but we’re going to make up for lost time.
The idea is to whip a new Sunday Gimmick Table every week to build up to 25. The Retron1 video was a last-minute thing and not something that was planned, but the original video wasn’t ready, wasn’t going to be ready, and so it was delayed. Fine. Whatever. We’ll delay that. Debating on whether I want to do the 25th video on Christmas or New Year’s Day. If it’s the former, I may need to double up on one day. We’ll see on that count.
There’s only one DTM-Cast episode being uploaded this week. It’s the year-end edition, with the Winners And Losers of 2022 preview being the main thing, but if anything else worth talking about comes up, I’ll let you folks now. Once that episode is up (or once the SGT is up should I decide on New Year’s Day being the day, there will be a two-week period of radio silence on the blog before things begin to pick up. And I already have plans for the future.
And that’s about it. Nothing major on the archival front. PPV Musings are on hold for the time being until late-January. Next update might not hit until mid-January when posts resume then.
Enjoy your holidays and have a happy 2023.
