Slow Burn Reviews And The Road To Mighty No. 9

A couple quick notes in regards to the video output… and this time, there is a plan behind it.

June 21st, 2021 will mark the fifth anniversary of the release of Mighty No. 9. To celebrate the occasion, I’ll be posting the long awaited review of Mighty No. 9, which will also serve as the 800th review. For those who have bore witness to the Mega Man X5 and X6 reviews, expect something similar in that fashion. This one may even be (somewhat) more elaborate than those videos.

As such, only one review per week… mostly to spread things out a bit as to not overload, but also to give the Youtube side a chance to catch up on the reviews, which are presently one or two behind. Beyond that, there’s probably one month in particular that’s going to be heavy on the reviews, but that’s a long ways down and in the meantime, expect some sporadic videos every so often.

In other updates…

As predicted on last night’s show, I was unable to catch the Double Or Nothing PPV due to prior commitments. However, I did see the pre-show later on and that was a fun match between Deeb and Riho. I’ve ordered the PPV, so I can probably catch the replay tonight and hopefully bust out a musings this week. After that, we’re going to be deep in some muck for the next few weeks… and none of them involve Hell In A Cell in the coming weeks. Fuck that noise.

That’s about it off the top of my head. New gimmick table next Sunday… maybe other stuff. We’ll see.

Later.

An Announcement Tease To Tease An Announcement Tease

You know… I pulled out my old tablet that came with a keyboard for the first time in a long while. And I’ve been typing shit during my breaks and I have this rather lengthy update post typed out when suddenly, things go whack and I lose my stuff.

Moral of the story; save often and don’t rely on wireless connections with spotty connecting histories such as this thing I’m using.

Other than that, however, it’s been smooth sailing thus far. Managed a couple reserve bits and bobs for the future and I’ve been teasing a new approach that I want to apply towards the web content. I’d share it here, but I’m afraid things might go the way o the crapper. So, I will advise anyone wondering about the future of this blog to check in Sunday and listen to the next episode of the DTM-Cast where I will begin the episode by addressing the state of the blog.

In the meantime, there might be a review up this week. There might be a PPV musings of some kind coming… that’s all I can muster up for now.

Later.

Videos And Ramblemania Coming Up… Eventually

A quick period of nothing after a week of nothing quality audio has been uploaded… but for those wanting news on blog updates… here you go.

In the process of watching Wrestlemania Jumbo Edition and will eventually cook up a Ramblemania next week. For those who want an early sample of my thoughts on the show, I’ll put up a DTM-Cast this coming weekend, which will also include the infrequent Q&A segment to fill time.

One review in the can that I’m hoping will be good to go this week, but there’s also a couple quick Mario Maker 2 videos to put up to fill the void, for lack of a better term.

Not much else is going on at the moment. There might be a couple phantom updates here and there with some old posts being restored – mostly unfinished Dynamite musings that I’d much rather spread out than dump together, but there’s a couple posts from a couple years back that might see the light of day sooner than later. If anyone really wants a checklist of these posts, I’ll see about doing a log the next time I do one of these posts.

Anyway, that’s it for now. Good day and be safe.

Mega Man X 1-3 Reviews Going On YouTube This Week

For those who only frequent the Youtube pages, I’ll be uploading the Mega Man X reviews up this week. Unfortunately, the “bonus” material included in the X2 review was struck with Content ID, so it will not be making the jump to Youtube. Fortunately, you can check out the clip at the end of the original DM upload on this here blog.

As for when the rest will be coming around… well… stay tuned… I guess.

Time Off, Swapping Reviews, And The Return Of Wily Challenges

So that was a month of reviews that we just did. And while I had said I was going to do more this week, the thought occurred to give myself the week off and resume posting next week.

Part of it is burnout, while another part is a shuffling of the reviews. The next couple reviews were going to cover the next bunch of Mega Man X games, but those reviews are turning out to be more challenging to assemble than I thought. So those are being pushed back a bit and in their place, I’ll be tossing a couple quick reviews together. Nothing special or anything like that. Something to keep things going.

Wily Challenge videos will be making a return starting this coming Saturday and I’m hoping to make this a regular thing. We’ll see.

Anyway, that’s it for me. Good night.

Later VIdeo Times, DTM-Cast Delayed A Week

A couple quick notes:

– For the last stretch of reviews – including tonight’s 50th Slideshow Movie Review – videos will be published at 6:00 P.M. EST as opposed to the usual 12:30 start time. Reason being that most of these reviews are really big reviews and I want to give these things the final polish before putting them up there. The recent reviews should give a clue as to where we’re going…

– Tomorrow was supposed to be another episode of the DTM-Cast, but something came up and I haven’t had the time to record a good quality show. So here’s the deal; since I’m delaying the videos by a few hours, I’m going to try and bang out a couple episodes this week, with the first of these hopefully up by Monday if all goes well. The other episodes might be Q&A episodes; we’ll see.

– Regarding the “regular” schedule for the blog, I’m going to move that up by a week because I want to use the first week of March to do more reviews and such. So instead of March 1st, the “regular” schedule will begin on March 8th. And who knows what that will entail? (I suppose I do, but let’s not dwell.)

That’s about it. Later.

To Hell With The 100-Post Challenge, Let’s Do The Ramble Thing

I thought that I could’ve done it, but as it turns out, poor timing ruins everything… so that’s that. Another aborted 100-Post Challenge… though honestly, that’s probably for the best.

As for all those unpublished posts? Welp, I’ve got enough wrestling PPV musings to cover a couple months worth of weekly posts starting in February. And those long-form posts might mean a little more when they’re not buried in the sand. So let’s roll that shit out slowly instead. That’ll be better off.

Besides, gives me more time to focus on the video stuff. I want February to have that “review a day” thing and now clearing this backlog out gives me more than enough focus to do just that. In fact, there’s a video come up later at noon. Stay tuned.

The Show Resumes… Somewhat

So now that we got the Brodie Lee tribute week in the books, we can now resume “nonreal” operations… which includes trying to get this 100-Post Challenge on the road… and yes, those do count. And the usual Post Of The Week gimmick will stay linked to the Brodie Lee tribute page, which will have all the linked content on the page.

And with that, we move on to something else…

Some folks might notice that I have changed the colors on the page. While testing some out on the site, I came to the sudden realization that black text on somewhat medium-dark gray backgrounds are difficult to read at a distance and so I made it the boxes lighter… almost white in a way. I haven’t had much in the way of complaints in terms of appearance, but it’s just something that needed to change.

Over the coming weeks, I’ll be making some other minor tweaks to the blog – additional work on the menu and possibly introducing new pages to navigate content on the pages. This is all backburner stuff that will pop up here and there.

Regarding future content… I’ve touched on this in the recent edition of the DTM-Cast, but I’m attempting the 100-Post Challenge this month and while things have gone to a slow start, things will eventually pick up. All I can tell you is that Sundays and Wednesdays will be the most bulkiest of days. This coming Sunday will feature no less than twenty-four comic reviews… so that’s something to look forward… okay, maybe not.

So we’ll see what happens… I guess.

An Old Review Is Apparently Not Fit For Anyone By Youtube

Yeah, so I got this Sunday morning and this came out of nowhere.
It’s the old Pac-Man review from 2011 and after reviewing the video, I’m wondering what happened here that caused Youtube to suddenly lose their shit and make this the equivalent of hardcore pornography. Honestly, I’m not really hurting over this. It’s an old video that’s garnered very few views and something tossed together as a lark more than anything… however, for some reason, I decided to appeal this decision. Worth a try, I suppose.
So I submit the following appeal.
So, this nine-year old video is apparent age-restricted for reasons that have not been clearly specified and after reviewing the video in question, I found a video that does not feature any semblance of pornography, hate speech, graphic content, or even swearing. The description (literally just a single sentence) does not feature any links or keywords to anything that would feature inappropriate content. And while the video was never intended for children, I found nothing that would be considered inappropriate for said younger audience. Therefore, I would like to not only appeal this decision, but I would also appreciate any specific reasoning that led to this decision. Regards.
A few hours later, I got a reply from Youtube, who saw that the video did not, in fact, violate any Community Guidelines and is safe for all audiences. Glad we’ve got that sorted out in a prompt manner.
And hey, I’ve no ill will here. Mistakes happen, the system isn’t perfect, and sometimes I wonder if the smaller creators have any semblance of a voice in this bloated “influencer” market… but some good can come of it, cooler heads prevail, and life goes on.
So, thanks, YouTube.

SurSerZZZZZ, New Review Coming Thursday

I attempted to watch the Survivor Series PPV yesterday and within the first match between the red shirts and blue shirts, I fell asleep. I don’t think I ever had a show put me to sleep as quickly as this did. So… we’ll try again later. Don’t know if I’m writing anything on this… might save it for a DTM-Cast or something.

In other blog notes, there’s a new Sunday Gimmick Table this coming Sunday, and Thursday will see a new video review.
