All Plans On Hold For The Moment…
Slowly But Surely
In case you haven’t heard the opening spiel of the canned edition of the DTM-Cast that was uploaded this past Sunday, I’ve been dealing with some health issues the prior week, which explains the radio silence. It’s nothing too serious and things are getting better, but I’ve been off the radar for a while and I’m slowly getting back into the groove of things.
Videos will be coming up eventually. I want to maintain the two reviews a week schedule, but when those videos will be up is another story. The uploading of old commentaries over to the Archive channel will be a slow process. There’s a couple other things I want to touch on.
PPV Musings will be on hold for a while… mostly because nothing is ready yet and I’m not even sure that I’d even want to watch Summerslam this Saturday. I’ve got a couple other ideas in the interim and they’re not even related to wrestling or gaming. Yay, something different!
Bare with me, folks. It’s going to take a while to get things back to a semi-regular basis. Hopefully by September… in the meantime, I’ll try to keep up with some daily posts here and there. Maybe find some old content to add in the interim.
New Video Commentary Page In The Works
I threw together a WIP page for the video commentaries. As video commentaries are (eventually) re-uploaded, I’ll throw a link to the relevant pages. That way, you can keep track of what’s ready to go. Speaking of which, the first three commentaries are up on the Archive channel. They’re unlisted, but can be accessed on the blog or through the appropriate Video Commentary playlists.
(2025 Update: Never mind. The link is long dead and we’re back to square one. Oh well…)
An Update On The Video Commentaries
A couple quick notes:
So earlier this month – or was it the end of last month? – I made a post in regards to a Youtube technicality that prompted me to deleted all the old video commentaries from the DTM Rambles channel. The deal was that a change in the algorithm would affect most unlisted videos and that I either had to let them be public, fill out a form to keep them unlisted, or simply re-up them again. Naturally, I have gone with the third option since the commentaries are old and I’d rather not have them be commented on by really dumb people who believe that stuff is relevant today.
So here’s the deal. I’m going to attempt to upload a couple old commentaries onto the DTM Archives channel, the secondary Youtube channel I’ve got laying around that spent its days as an archive of Mega Man Maker videos. The original intent of the channel was for all the odds and ends that didn’t fit the main channel and since video commentaries are no longer the in-thing around these parts – or at least not as much as they used to be – I suppose the whole bunch of them would now be considered oddball.
Anyway, I’m going to try on there first and if things go smoothly, it shouldn’t be a problem to get those videos up and about. But if it turns out to be problematic, then it’ll be off to the Dailymotion mines.
As for what version of the commentaries will be up… it depends.
For the most part, a good majority of these commentaries are being re-rendered from the original Vegas source material, with only the intro and outro bits being swapped and maybe a couple text additions for title cards and such. However, some of these will be straight re-ups of the old files since the original Vegas sources were wiped during a hard drive crash ages ago.
We’ll give this a shot and I’ll let you know where things stand when I have news to offer.
Quick Update 2021-07-10
Figured we haven’t done one of these in a while, so some quick blog notes.
– Next week will feature no videos of any kind, but after that, should resume. I’m attempting to stick with a “two review a week” schedule going forward, with maybe a couple exceptions along the way. Review A Bad Game Day (August 8th) lands on a Sunday this year and will be a bonus review of sorts… just as well since it falls in line with the two regular reviews being done that week. We’ll see how that goes.
– The DTM-Cast will go in an August hiatus after the next couple (weekly) episodes and will return on Labour Day weekend.
– Musings for the past several episodes of AEW Dynamite, including the final Daily’s Place shows and the first couple shows, will be published next week and be dated appropriately. I know this goes against the “norm”, but the stuff was written ages ago and only needed a little polish that took a little while longer due to other commitments unrelated to this stuff.
– No update on the video commentary front thus far… but if something comes up, I’ll let you know.
That’s about it for now. Enjoy the weekend, everyone.
Old Video Commentaries Down Momentarily
Honestly, don’t know how many people care at this point, but for those who do…
Mega Man Maker Tab Added To Top Menu, More Content To Come
For those who want “easier” navigation of the old Mega Man Maker stuff, I’ve added the appropriate tab on the top menu that will bring up four distinct posts. Videos for my own levels and Wily Challenge runs as well as other miscellaneous videos and posts can be easily accessed here.
Slow Burn Reviews And The Road To Mighty No. 9
A couple quick notes in regards to the video output… and this time, there is a plan behind it.
June 21st, 2021 will mark the fifth anniversary of the release of Mighty No. 9. To celebrate the occasion, I’ll be posting the long awaited review of Mighty No. 9, which will also serve as the 800th review. For those who have bore witness to the Mega Man X5 and X6 reviews, expect something similar in that fashion. This one may even be (somewhat) more elaborate than those videos.
As such, only one review per week… mostly to spread things out a bit as to not overload, but also to give the Youtube side a chance to catch up on the reviews, which are presently one or two behind. Beyond that, there’s probably one month in particular that’s going to be heavy on the reviews, but that’s a long ways down and in the meantime, expect some sporadic videos every so often.
In other updates…
As predicted on last night’s show, I was unable to catch the Double Or Nothing PPV due to prior commitments. However, I did see the pre-show later on and that was a fun match between Deeb and Riho. I’ve ordered the PPV, so I can probably catch the replay tonight and hopefully bust out a musings this week. After that, we’re going to be deep in some muck for the next few weeks… and none of them involve Hell In A Cell in the coming weeks. Fuck that noise.
That’s about it off the top of my head. New gimmick table next Sunday… maybe other stuff. We’ll see.
Later.
An Announcement Tease To Tease An Announcement Tease
You know… I pulled out my old tablet that came with a keyboard for the first time in a long while. And I’ve been typing shit during my breaks and I have this rather lengthy update post typed out when suddenly, things go whack and I lose my stuff.
Moral of the story; save often and don’t rely on wireless connections with spotty connecting histories such as this thing I’m using.
Other than that, however, it’s been smooth sailing thus far. Managed a couple reserve bits and bobs for the future and I’ve been teasing a new approach that I want to apply towards the web content. I’d share it here, but I’m afraid things might go the way o the crapper. So, I will advise anyone wondering about the future of this blog to check in Sunday and listen to the next episode of the DTM-Cast where I will begin the episode by addressing the state of the blog.
In the meantime, there might be a review up this week. There might be a PPV musings of some kind coming… that’s all I can muster up for now.
Later.
