WWE Survivor Series 2024
It’s Survivor Series…
WARGAMEZ!
From last year…
So yeah, full disclosure: I had this laying around last year and never got around to posting it, but since it’s around that time again, I’d figured why not. Here are my (very quick) musings on last year’s Survivor Series PPV, which featured the reunited Bloodline (led by Roman Reigns and also featuring CM Punk) and the Bloodline B-Team led by that Solo guy and a bunch of other Samoans that got signed from New Japan or something. If, a year after the fact, this is what I’m referring to that “other” Bloodline team, maybe it’s not as effective a storyline as some would suggest.
Also, yes, even though most of this was written last year and promptly forgotten about, there will be occasional notes to try and keep this more timely, as though it was written up on a few days ago as opposed to months prior or even a whole year previous.
Anyway, let us begin…
Pac-Man 2600… Justice Is (Puke) Gray
It’s some Pac-Man 2600, but in black and white so that it (almost) resembles proper Pac-Man. Still sucks, though.
Never A Strange Thing ‘Round These Parts
Netflix series hit Stranger Things is getting its fifth and final season later this year and my feelings on the matter are… meh.
I’ve never watched the series. I know some details, I’ve seen some clips, but never actually sat down to watch the show even during those periods when I had an active Netflix subscription. Whether it was its much simpler early seasons or the more fantastic later ones, it was a show that simply didn’t appeal to me in any way, shape, or form. As such, I never really followed the show. It’s just something that people reference every so often. And so when I hear that Stranger Things is coming to an end, my only reaction is “Is that thing still on?”
Here’s the thing about Stranger Things; yeah, it’s part of a genre of sci-fi horror that doesn’t necessarily appeal to me personally and that’s not a knock on it. It takes quite a bit for something to appeal to me personally enough to sit down and consume it unless it’s a legacy property (and even that’s a tall order), but it’s also a thing set during a time that I grew up in. It has references to things – movies, games, books, whatever – that I will recognize and will go “Why am I watching this thing referencing other things I could be watching right now?”
Anyway, hopefully the fans who stuck with the show will get a final chapter worthy of their fandom and the show’s run… or maybe they’ll make another spin-0ff or something to keep the gravy train going and then I can go “Is THAT thing still on?”
Either way, I’ll be watching actual 80s stuff from the 80s… on media from the 9os and 2000s… oh wait.
Review #1251 – Sky Diver (Atari 2600)
Atari Month begins with the oldest game on our list… hopefully.
Sunday Gimmick Table #43 – Orico HD Enclosure That Looks Like A Cassette
It’s a hard drive enclosure that looks like a vintage cassette tape… but does it play like one? The answer is no, of course not, why are you asking silly questions? Anyway, in this video, I add a hard drive into the thing and check if it works.
Behind The Scenes Capture Woes
For the blog visitors, a bit of a sampler of when things go wrong on the video capture front…
State Of The Blog – November 2025
Well, October has come and gone… we’ve had our share of fun times and not so fun times. And now we go retro… or as some people would prefer to call it, those really old games that your grandparents used to play because your parents were probably Nintendo kids… or Sega kids… okay, maybe one of them MIGHT have had an Atari Jaguar, but I highly dispute that.
Anyway, your usual long-winded, probably never gonna happen updates follow after the break.
Review #1250 – Hell’s Kitchen: The Game: Le Jeu (Wii)
You would think that a Gordon Ramsay-endorsed video game with voice bytes from the man himself would be an exciting proposition… but alas, it turned out to NOT be the case. As such, rather than being treated as something with pomp, circumstance, pyro, ballyhoo, and whatever hyper hyperbole terms you wish to apply, this is just the usual video review effort that every other game gets.
In other words, keep your expectations exceedingly low and you’ll be fine… much like today’s subject matter, strangely enough.
Actually, I’m glad I held off on the Tuesday upload because a recent session of play actually highlighted a couple more points that were added just before the rendering process. The end result was something that turned a subpar seven minute review into a slightly more par ten minute review.
On All Hallow’s Eve… I Still Haven’t Watched Section 31.
It is October 31st of the year 2025… and it’s time for the semi-monthly declaration that I have NOT watched the Section 31 streaming video motion picture film starring Academy Award Winner Michelle Yeoh… because a buddy of mine who occasionally offers gag gifts for my birthday – which would have been the perfect time to strike with a disc copy of said movie – opted instead to give me a DVD set of the original TMNT cartoon.
If he had sent Section 31, you would probably be reading my thoughts on said film. But he didn’t. So you’re not. And so the tradition continues… such as it is.
In the meantime, however, if the current Trek television product isn’t getting you excited, might I suggest you redirect your forward sensors towards IDW’s comic output? They recently put out the first issue of their new series, Star Trek: The Last Starship, and it’s actually quite the hard sell for its overall concept that has me genuinely excited for new Trek. Also worthy of mention is their Red Shirts miniseries, which has been tremendous fun.
Maybe some day, I’ll give these further shine – and maybe talk up more of that Khan show, which I need to catch up on – but it goes to show that you don’t necessarily need Star Trek on screen to find good quality stories. As long as there’s enough quality material to dive into, I am more than content in putting off… what were we talking about again?
For the record, I have yet to open that TMNT DVD set… I’m almost afraid to revisit it.
