TNA Impact (January 2nd, 2025) – Filling In The Slots Left Behind By WWE

Yes, we’re doing the first episode of Impact in 2025… but this one is a little more significant in that it’s the first new Impact to air on Sportsnet 360, the Canadian sports channel that, up until recently, was home to WWE programming and with that having gone to Netflix, that left an opening for programming that could have been filled with MOAR CANADIAN CONTENT… but I guess because TNA is now owned by Anthem Sports (a Canadian group – yes, TNA is owned by Canadians, which would made one-time heel faction Team Canada the rulers of TNA until they shitcanned Scott D’Amore), that makes them Canadian content and thus slots were filled.

So, yeah, while the title might sound like a bit of a joke, it’s not technically wrong. And honestly, it’s a big deal for TNA. Sportsnet has much greater visibility in Canada than the Fight Network does. And apparently, TNA programming was all over Sportsnet on New Year’s Day, which would’ve been nice to had known beforehand, but… whatever. What’s important is that we have a new year of Impact to check out and it’s… another episode of Impact.

See, the move to Sportsnet is a big deal in Canada to a degree, but not so much in America, where it’s business as usual, I suppose.

AEW Dynamite (January 1st, 2025) – Fight For The Fallen

Happy New Year from your friends at All Elite Wrestling. Celebrate the occasion with a special “Fight For The Fallen” edition of AEW Dynamite from Asheville, to help support those recovering the hurricane last year. Well, that’s a rather nice gesture for them to do. I’ll give them that much.

Besides that, this is the first Dynamite show to be simucast on both TBS and the MAX Streaming Service as part of the new AEW/WBD TV deal that will let them do more of these things. Admittedly, I have been down on AEW as of late, but you know what? It’s a new year (yes, it is) and since I’m making a point to watch all the first shows of the year and doing musings on them, I might as well kick things off with Dynamite.

For those wondering, Impact will be up tomorrow. Smackdown will be up on Sunday. If I have the channel that Collision is airing on (a former Discovery channel redubbed USA Network – no relation), there will be that going up on Monday. And of course, the first RAW of the Netflix era will be covered on Tuesday… and then Wednesday will be stuff. Don’t expect regular weekly write-ups on these things or anything like that unless I happen to like the shows and dub them worth the effort; this is just a one off to see which of these shows kicks off the new year with a strong effort. Dynamite, of course, is the first one up… so it’ll have to be a real “banger” of a show (as the kids say) if it’s going to maintain its crown or something.

Anyhoo, here are some observations I’ve made during the show – not a blow for blow show recap because that requires a commitment that is well above my non-existent paygrade, but just notes on some stuff that I noticed or something. The usual output for this blog.

Can We Have A Stream That Actually Fucking Works?

So apparently, I did a live stream for three hours that never actually went live and I only have thirty minutes of recorded footage to let people know that this actually existed. So I did a quick stream test playing Xevious (poorly) while explaining my plight to other people.

2025 is off to a fantastic start, ya?

Sorry, folks. We’ll have to play our rocks in a box some other time… either reschedule another live stream down the road or do a pre-recorded one. Either way, I’m not happy about the lack of stream on schedule and I deeply apologize for this mishap. Better luck next time is all I could hope for.

The Winners And Losers Of 2024

Happy New Year, kids. Here’s the annual Winners And Losers Of 2024.

No much of an intro this time around, as my hopes for 2025 aren’t high and honestly, 2024 wasn’t completely terrible despite terrible moments taking place in it. In any event, have fun and see you in a little bit.

Have fun.

FINAL DTM-Cast (Episode #256)

Click here to download the MP3.

This is it.

The end.

The end of the incoherent ramblings, the pissing and moaning about childhood favorites turned soulless cinematic universes, and the hell-spawned wrestling musings when nobody wanted them. The final episode of the not-quite legendary DTM-Cast audio program. This is Final DTM-Cast. It’s the 256th episode lasting over TWO HOURS AND THIRTY MINUTES with The Winners And Losers Of 2024, the last ever Q&A segment, gaming collecting notes, wrestling note, and some behind the scenes anecdotes… oh, and other stuff gets talked about too.

It’s time to finish what you started.

Final DTM-Cast.

End of story.

Good night.

Last Content Of 2024 And A Brief Break Afterwards

Hello there.

I put Joe Hendry on top because I still believe in Joe Hendry and this is not a meme that will die out in 2024. We wish him luck in his latest attempt to overcome bad TNA booking and get the TNA gold that he should have gotten this past October. Think of the pop you’ll get at the Rumble when he shows up… if he shows up.

As we near the end of 2024 this week and hope that 2025 will be even better than before – we’re not off to a great start, sadly – the thought occurred to do one final update post before the year is up. Although there’s not much left to look forward to this year. New review is going up tomorrow, final episode of the DTM-Cast will go up on Tuesday, and we open up the new year with the written version of The Winners And Losers of 2024, which will also be featured in the aforementioned final episode, with additional commentary to boot.

The reviews will be taking a backseat for a week or so. PPV Musings will be on hiatus for a time until the end of January. It won’t be complete radio silence, however. There is a live stream coming up if I’m well enough after New Year’s Day festivities, there’s a video that I was hoping to get done that’s being pushed back a week (and you’ll see why the timing for this thing is borked), and there might be another thing or two popping up along the way.

So… yeah… ending the year on a whimper rather than a bang… but hey, at least we’ve got Krypto.

That’s a cute-looking Super-Pup.

Maya would be all over this guy.

Later.

THE BITE COMMENTARIES #08 – Memories Of The DTM-Cast

This coming Tuesday is the end of an era… so to speak.

This coming Tuesday on New Year’s Eve, thirty minutes past midnight, the DTM-Cast – this strange little audio project that has been an on-and-off thing since 2013 – will be posting its final episode. As a matter of fact, as I am writing this, I am in the process of reading my closing thoughts on the show. And it is a show that I implore you folks to listen to.
