Happy New Year… I heard it sucks… oh wait, I hear that every year.
For those who are TLDR people, reviews resume on Monday, January 19th with Review #1271 (game unknown) and Nitro musings will continue their Thursday run. And other minor fixes as well.
For those wanting more detailed bits, the break is right there.
VIDEO SCHEDULE AND REVIEW START DATE
Reviews will resume on Monday, January 19th where, after a couple quick reviews, we’ll start diving to a couple weeks of Valis game reviews that have been long, long, LONG overdue to be covered. Also on the pipeline is the Ataribox video, which may or may not be released this month. Truth be told, there’s something I’ve been meaning to do that I haven’t gotten around to doing and I wanted to find the time to do it without interruption, so as soon as there’s some traction on that front, I’ll let you folks know what’s up with that. Beyond that, expect the video output to be relatively slim this month, but for what it’s worth, February should be when things come into more focus. Stay tuned, I guess.

The only other piece of noteworthy news in this regard is that I’ve been in the process of re-uploading and re-editing the old reviews so that they have new numbered title cards. Some of the reviews have also seen some rather drastic re-edits while others are relatively unchanged save for some font changes due to missing fonts. I’ve also streamlined the video review navigation, grouping years up so that the menu is less cumbersome to use. This will be the new format going forward.
THE FUTURE OF WRESTLING MUSINGS
So let’s get this out of the way right now: as of this moment, I have no plans or interest in watching or musing on the Royal Rumble event from Saudi Arabia when it airs on January 31st… oh goodie, another thing that I can boldly declare that I won’t watch on the 31st besides Section 31.
Does the show being in Saudi have something to do with it? Yeah, I suppose it does. Not sure if it’s due to any moral quandaries or simply a matter of past Saudi shows not being worth a damn regardless of whether they’re using proper PPV/PLE/POS event brands or not. But it also speaks to my general lack of enthusiasm or even remote interest in the current WWE product. Hell, it seems like none of the current wrestling shows are doing it for me; whether they’d be coasting on storylines and plot points that should have been resolved ages ago and yet still persist (AEW) or whether they’re showcasing talent from another show that I have no interest in watching (also AEW, but mostly TNA with its NXT partnership). I’m not quite sure what it is, but it seems like for the first time in a good long while, I find myself not wanting to watch wrestling anymore unless it’s from the previous century.
As of this moment, the only consistent piece of wrestling posts being regularly maintained is the weekly Nitro musings, which will continue along until the eventual Scott Hall debut in May. Once we reach that point, who knows what we’ll do? Hell, I’m not even sure if I could muster the enthusiasm to watch Wrestlemania, which has been a tradition among friends to talk about the show after it took place. That, and the idea that it’s another Vegas event followed by the long-dreaded Saudi edition of GREATEST WRESTLEMANIA or whatever they end up calling it… I don’t know, man. WWE is starting to get some of that UFC stink that I’m not really caring for.
Anyhoo, we’ll see where this “moral quandary” ends up going next month. Speaking of which…
OTHER NOTES
I’ll be honest; January is going to be a dry month in terms of material and I’m mostly going to use the month to spend time with family and focus on getting my stuff together before I spend any significant time prepping any material. I will try to post on a regular basis and do some bits of maintenance here and there, but the “real work” or whatever you want to call it doesn’t actually kick off until February when there’s more of a clearer picture as to where things are going.
I will say this, though; I want to make a genuine effort to maintain some level of consistency. For the most part, I’ve been fairly happy with the video output this past year, but feel that I could do some much better in maintaining a proper schedule. I do have stuff that’s either ready to go or close to it; a lot of back burner stuff that I’m hoping to have cleared off by the end of the year, which will make way for a more streamlined output in 2027. Even though this is a hobby of sorts, I also consider this a mental exercise that keeps me focused. And hopefully, that focus can apply to other life things that could use more of that. That’s the working theory, at least.
In any event, it’s a New Year (yes, it is) and as much as I loathe making resolutions, I resolve to make this blog something worth checking out every day and perhaps making more of an effort to promote on my other channels. Wouldn’t that be nice to have some Youtube folks read my rambling words rather than hear me spell them out? Maybe I should add captions.
Oh well… one step at a time, I suppose.
Thanks for stopping by. Hope to see you around more often.
Later,
Dave
