State Of The Blog – July 2025

Belated happy Canada Day to my fellow Canadians… and since I am indeed Canadian, I am legally and culturally obligated to inform my neighbours down south that they can go [REDACTED.] Except for you. You know who you are.

Anyway, here’s the slightly belated State Of The Blog for July.

VIDEO SCHEDULE
No review on July 4th. I refuse. This fulfills my legal and civic duty as a Canadian to stick it to the American audience… or something, I don’t know. We’ll forget that nonsense afterwards in this space, at least, where it’ll be mostly fun stuff and random play session uploads. On a side note, I was hoping to nail a few more 7800 reviews with the new releases coming up, but those have been delayed to August, which irks me. Fortunately, there’s enough backlog content to fill the void and… well, you’ll see below.

Tuesdays will continue to see Extra Bits videos uploaded… I’d prefer to keep the contents under wraps. Have one surprise a week at least… this coming from someone who hates surprises. Speaking of which, there’s one coming up in a few hours and it relates to a game covered previously… whose reviews have been re-uploaded with new edits.

(2025-07-22 Update: Had swapped around a few reviews. Midnight Club and Faxanadu have been pushed back to August, added in Donkey Kong Famicom reviews to speed things up. The schedule for August will also be in flux and updated as time goes on, but come September, things should be steadily on course.)

PPV MUSINGS
So this month, I’m going to be revisiting WCW’s Hog/Road Wild series of PPV events emanating from a Sturgis biker rally. Yes, the quality of these shows were largely bad and rewatching these hasn’t made these age gracefully, but let’s be honest; I’m having more fun watching and railing on shitty WCW shows from decades ago than I am watching these mid-tier WWE PLEs with a handful of matches and nine hours worth of skippable commercials and backstage bits. And I’m sure as shit not buying monthly AEW PPVs any time soon, so this is what you get for this month… and possibly something extra at the end of the month.

That said, I do plan on watching the All In show, but that’s only when I’ve got nothing else going on… and I’ve got something down the pike that I’ll share some details on in a little while.

OTHER NOTES
So, last month, we’ve surpassed 1200 reviews and celebrated the occasion by FINALLY giving Sonic 2 a look… which took us a long while because other stuff came up. With that out of the way, the countdown to #1300 technically begins and will be shelved until we eventually get within proximity, which will definitely be some time next year. This time, I know what that video is going to cover and I’ll even spill the beans; it’ll be Illusion Of Gaia, an overhead action-RPG type thing for SNES. This is another one I want to knock off the bucket list and also want to revisit because it’s stuff.

Since I mentioned it in one of the streams, I’ll bring it up here regarding older video content. If all goes well, I’ll begin replacing all the old review embeds with newer ones starting in September. The priority is to start with the early stuff and make my way up to Fire Pro, which I think is the last review before I started adding review numbers to the title cards. I’ll try to give you folks a heads up.

I ramble about things.

Keep your comments nice and clean and we'll be fine. Thanks.
