The last couple months suck in terms of material as far as video content is concerned. So consider this my way of playing catch-up while there’s a whole bunch of other shit going on at the same time. It’s as good a time as any to let y’all know that… there’s some developments behind the scenes that’s well worth checking out if you missed out on last night’s video stream thing.
VIDEO REVIEW SCHEDULE & OTHER VIDEO NOTES
So this is a thing we’re doing this month; a marathon of video reviews from Monday To Friday for the next four weeks. Part of this is a desire to make up for lost time caused by my recent hospitalization and other things. Part of it is also taking the time to clear up a lot of crap in the backlog that’s been sitting around for years and finally having a chance to get that stuff up and running. That’s pretty much the main theme of this year’s batch of reviews; catching up on a growing backlog of stuff.
The good news is that most of this stuff is uploaded onto the channel and will be published at the appropriate dates, so the schedule listed below is pretty much set in stone. Review #1200 hits on June 27th and that whole week is going to be mystery meat week. There’s some nice stuff on there, I promise you, but nothing truly, really special as far as the “big landmark” entry in this (very) long (enough) review series project thing.
As far as other video stuff is concerned, there’ll be a new Sunday Gimmick Table every Sunday… by which I mean, stuff that’s been sitting around forever finally gets to see the light of day. Tuesdays will see two videos; aside from the review output, there’s also the usual Extra Bits showcase, which is random bits of stuff. There might even be something on Saturdays… maybe. No promises.

PPV MUSINGS PLANS
So coming up is the musings for last month’s AEW Double Or Nothing PPV, which I was able to watch in parts on replay because that’s the only way I could realistically stomach a ten-hour PPV these days. The rest of it is are more random WCW PPVs from days past, which will build to a redo of a series of WCW PPVs that… you know, I’ve shown my hand.
As far as modern stuff goes… I’m looking forward to All In, I guess… and I suppose Summerslam deserves my attention… not looking forward to anything where the main event involves Logan Paul, so I’ll be skipping that show. Don’t feel too bad, though; WWE has enough rich money marks to keep that engine going.
BACKGROUND NOTES
I’ve been starting the process of replacing all the old Dailymotion embeds with the Youtube ones. For those who don’t know, Dailymotion did a thing with their code so that the minute one of their embeds appear, the video would automatically play. This means that if you were to use the old fashioned visual scan for old videos, you’d have a bunch of Dailymotion embeds load up and play at the same time, which, as you could imagine, is not fun.
Initially, I thought that this was a WordPress issue, but turns out that even the original Dailymotion embeds that I’ve had for over a DECADE have been replaced with this new auto-playing code, which makes things on THAT end a particular pickle. So I’ve been starting with the more recent stuff and replacing all the old embeds with the Youtube stuff. Granted, in some cases, this means you’re getting the slightly nerfed versions of the videos – the ones specially edited for Youtube as to not set off certain things here and there – but on the bright side, the Youtube embeds won’t start the minute you so much as breathe.
In other background news, I’ve uploaded some more vintage Home Video Reviews – I still have a few left to clean up and produce some nice looking banners for… which, you’ll note, are fairly generic and simple, but something like this doesn’t deserve a huge high-end effort on my part. Speaking of which, I’ve opened up a DTM’s Fiction tab on the Fun Stuff menu, as I’m slowly in the process of bringing back all the old fanfics that I wrote in my not-so-younger years. So if you want stuff to mock or somehow enjoy, you’ll be getting some of that in drips, including some stuff that has never been published before. Fun times, indeed.
That’s about it for this month… lots of stuff to look forward to. Hopefully, it goes off without a hitch. Would be nice for once.
