Another month has come and gone… it’s time for another State Of The Blog posting. We’ll get to the heavy meat and potatoes of the updates after the break, but I do want to offer a bit of a warning beforehand because I feel like I need to give you folks a heads-up on things.
So, without going too deep into things, I’ve been getting some tests done to check out some health concerns. It’s nothing that I would deem serious at the moment, but they have been more of a hindrance over the past couple days as it relates to daily life activities. I’m getting stuff checked out, I’m doing fine for the most part, and for the moment, I’m able to do most of the things I usually do, but it is putting a damper on certain things that I want to do. Hence the lack of live streams and other things that I was hoping to get done in time for March.
That said, there is quite a bit of stuff to look forward to, especially if you like reading. I don’t know…
VIDEO REVIEWS AND SUNDAY GIMMICK TABLE UPDATE
First off, there’s no set schedule of reviews this month and I don’t think we’re going to be doing that because it seems like every time I try to do something like that, it just falls apart. So while we’re (mostly) maintaining the usual Monday-Wednesday-Friday review upload cycle, as far as the actual content is concerned, I’m mostly winging it. Last month was supposed to be covering a bunch of Valis games, but instead, it ended up being a month’s worth of 7800 games and that wasn’t even in the plans. I just happened. So whatever pops up this month is what pops up this month and if there’s stuff that’s best served as part of a themed week, I’ll set it aside for later down the road… at least, that’s the general idea.
Jumping ahead here, I will say that for Review A Great Game Day – which falls on Tuesday, April 8th – we’ll be covering Axiom Verge, with the sequel getting featured the following Friday. I’m looking forward to this.
Regarding the return of Sunday Gimmick Table… well, unfortunately, some technical issues as well as some real-life health concerns has delayed things a bit further. I’ve actually got a couple in the works that needed a couple more pick-up shots, but I never had the chance to get those done. I’m hoping that sooner or later, we’ll be getting those up and running, but it’s been a struggle. Will get back to you on this front soon enough.
PPV MUSINGS AND NOTHING ELSE
We’ve got the usual PPV Musings popping up on Wednesdays, which will cover the other AEW show from last year that I saw and eventually, we’ll start our deep dive into the WWE Blood Money shows from Saudi Arabia pre-2020, before the “prevailing circumstances” happened and kept mostly everyone at home. There’s a fairly good chance that I won’t be able to catch the Elimination Chamber PLE tonight – though if anything newsworthy happens that’s worth sitting through a padded show, I might watch it later during the week. I’ve been watching other stuff in the interim, but nothing that has me wanting to post something about it here. I’ll hold off on the Dwayne/Cody stuff until we’re in the home stretch for this Mania roadtrip.
BACKLOG UPDATES
The following is a bunch of notes regarding ancient material being republished or repurposed for the new blog. Believe it or not, we’ve got quite a bit accomplished this time around and
– I’ve published about a good 50-ish vintage comic reviews, now with new banners and some slight tweaks to make them more readable. I’ve got a few more left to do that I’m hoping will be done by the end of the month, but then there are some new ones to look forward to.
– About 50-ish reviews that I had posted on the old GameFAQs account have been republished here under their original posting date… with more to come. I was going to give these things special banners like I do everything else, but decided against it… for now, at least. Maybe if I decide to pick up that aspect of things one of these days… which I may consider.
– All fifty-four entries in the DTM BLOG Classics series have been republished; these are select blog posts that have been compiled or retained from the original DTM BLOG that is now long gone. Trust me, out of the 1200 posts that were on there. A small percentage of that stuff was actually worth keeping and an even smaller percentage was worth expanding upon into their own full entries on this blog. For the rest of the stuff worth keeping as is, you have the DTM BLOG Classic series, reposted pretty much as is with some liner notes for context when needed.
That’s about it for this month.
Later.
