Happy Holidays in advance… and Lex wins… something.
I’ve got few actual updates for this month, but quite a bit to say after the break, so…
We’ve got another month left to go before we kiss this year goodbye… a year that has been… challenging, to say the least. Losing a dear friend who has been a part of my life (and this web presence) for a long time was the deepest cut and I still think of her every day. Family problems and some personal scares also made this year a bit of a challenge. On the flip side, though, we’ve got a new bundle of joy to look after, we’re still here, and while things haven’t gone smoothly on the web zone front, we did get quite a bit done around here.
The biggest thing is the formal and now permanent move to WordPress, which has been a blessing in some ways (more flexible blog options and a Classic Editor that I prefer) and a curse in others (any video embed that isn’t Youtube doesn’t work properly or even at all depending on the source.) However, this was a move that was a long time coming, as the old Blogger site was starting to feel its age and I wasn’t particularly thrilled with some of the changes behind the scene. WordPress requires a bit more put into it, but I don’t mind that. It harkens back to the days when I was building my own little websites from scratch, except I’ve got more convenient and efficient tools at my disposal, there’s (slightly) more visibility than before, a ton of content to scour, and it’s a paid service, which means no ads unless I implement an ad revenue thing on here (which I don’t plan on doing unless I absolutely, positively lose my goddamned mind.
This year’s video review output has increased considerably over last year’s, to the point where it could match 2015 as my review heaviest year yet if all goes well this month. 2015 saw me put out one hundred and twenty reviews that year, after which point things started to scale down a bit. I’d like to think, however, that this year’s batch of reviews are of slightly higher quality than those older videos were because some of those were just not very good. Of course, next year’s review output is going to be scaled back somewhat, potentially adopting a 2-per-week schedule at some point. However, we need to focus on the now, which has me with a possible 13 review slots to fill before the year is up.
I do want to make a point of bringing back more varied content next year, but that’s next year. Right now, I want to get past this year, which includes a couple extra bits, such as two final DTM-Cast episodes, a couple Sunday Gimmick Tables, and a possible Christmas special of sorts. If I can get that shit done this month, I’ll consider that primary mission objectives completed, which will no doubt please the Emperor… who is still alive out there, somewhere… because nobody’s ever really gone.
I’ve removed the link to the old Blogger site from the sidebar. Content from the old site has slowly but surely been deleted, mostly stuff that made the jump here. I might still keep the space and use it for other stuff, but as far as a regular blog that houses all my online stuff, this current blog you’re reading is the place to be. There’s still plenty of work to be done behind the scenes. A lot of older content still needs converting and fixing (mostly in formatting), there’s stuff that needs to be cleaned up before it can be published to the masses, and I’m still considering how to proceed onwards with the video archiving project – whether I want to continue hosting the new edits on Dailymotion (which I haven’t touched in ages) or move that stuff over to Youtube via Extra Bits. I might give the ten Youtube people who follow these things a say for once… possibly even do a quick update video of sorts.
That’s sort of where we’re at right now. I’ll end this post with the usual schedules, though the video/audio schedule is a bit bare due to reviews being somewhat more random this month around and honestly, I don’t know when any of these are going up. All I have as sure dates are the DTM-Casts and one special presentation. There may be a Gimmick Table or two. There may be a Christmas special. That’s as far as I’ve got going forward.
Anyway, I’ve said enough here. Enjoy the rest of the show, everyone. Have yourselves a wonderful (and safe) holiday season and don’t let the bed bugs bite… or something.
Later,
Dave (DTM666)

PPV MUSINGS
This month’s PPV Musings, which goes up until the 18th and will cover the Double Or Nothing 2024 PPV, which is the only other 2024 AEW PPV that I saw this year. The REDACTED show is WWE-related and is going to break a long-standing moratorium that has been ongoing for years… and the show that kicks this off makes me wish I hadn’t. Please look forward to it.

OTHER BLOG NOTES
Some minor housekeeping notes before we close out this final state of the blog for 2024.
The 2010, 2011, and 2016 Video Game Review index pages are now active for easier access. 2016 was the year that I hit five hundred video reviews and started adding counters to the title cards. 2010 and 2011 are the first video reviews I’ve posted online… and it shows.
Other minor fixes in the background. Nothing major to point out specifically.
