Hello and welcome to the new dtm666.com.
And, well, yes… it’s not yet ready. I probably jumped the gun in making the move now rather than wait until the previously announced June 1st launch date. Which is probably why the old blog is still available for anyone who wants to go through the archives and check out some of the old stuff while it’s still up there and while we’re in the process of transferring everything over to the new blog and making sure it looks nice and pretty… and also making sure everything works the way it’s supposed. That last part is often the one that gets ya.
In any event, the plan is to get (almost) everything ready to go by June 1st, which will mark the official launch date of the new dtm666.com. Think of this as Early Access. While most of this stuff is still under construction, there is some bits and bobs that still work. Pages for the last few years’ worth of game reviews are up, you can check out the Ramblemania Rewinds and Royal Ramble posts – now with brand spanking new banners for each event rather than the same generic banner that I’ve used previously. Power Rangers Reflections posts can also be viewed – with more being prepped for the future. Obviously, there’s stuff coming for the future, but at the moment, the focus is on getting this blog up and running.
At the moment, anyone who wants to check out some of my older stuff can do so via the old blog. The top menu is pretty much broken due to the change in domain (it’s now dtm666.blogspot.com) and the pages themselves are going to be a flaming disaster… but you can still use the categories/labels sidebar to filter out specific things… and the blog archive dropdown menu is still available for those who want to look for something specific… there’s also a search function, but that’s pretty much fucked at this point and I don’t think it’s ever worked properly.
Blogger has been a tremendous online home for these past fifteen years and I am ever so thankful and appreciative of providing a convenient platform to share my own bit of insanity on my own little corner of the interwebs. However, you eventually get to a point where you need a little more out of your blogging experience and WordPress offers a little more flexibility than what I had originally. I’ve been wanting to make this move for years and was just waiting for the right opportunity to pull the trigger. That time has arrived and while there’s still work to be done here, the early jump does eliminate one major hurdle that would’ve concerned me. Now it’s just a matter of getting the bits and pieces of this puzzle to fit. Hopefully, in a month, everything will be working just fine.
So what’s going to happen to the old blog?
Well, it’s still going to be around while I transfer stuff from here to there. I also need it as a reference to fix specific pages – anything that would require additional imagery or formatting fixes. That’s probably going to take up the most time of anything and while I probably don’t need to do that because who would want to read shit from 10-20 years ago unless it’s to uncover scandals and shit, I would like for this shit to be nice and presentable… and hey, who knows? There might be some brand-new old shit that might be added to the archives. Stuff that hasn’t seen the light of day in ages, if at all even.
So, the old blog is still going to be up for the foreseeable future… presumably the rest of the year. However, as time passes and more stuff will be added to the new blog, stuff will inevitably be taken down from the old blog. Once everything is up and running around here, I’ll probably shut the old space down… or possibly replace it with something else. We’ll see.
Right now, the plan is to get everything ready by June 1st, which would signify the official launching of the new dtm666.com… which is why the first thing you’re going to see is the splash image. The focus is mainly on getting things work here and also prepping some stuff for the future. As such, content is going to be fairly light going forward. Game reviews are the main thing, a couple PPV Musings, a couple TNA Impact write-ups (yes, TNA… it’s actually a good show these days and you can check that whole lot out in a month.)… but that’s about it. The hope is by June 1st, there will be a regular stream of stuff. That’s the plan… that’s the hope… right now, I just want shit to work. Once that’s done… then we can have some fun.
Oh… and a new DTM-Cast will be posted this coming Sunday.
Anyway, that’s the state of the blog for this month.
