Review #1297 – Aerofighters Assault (Nintendo 64)

I’m doing you a solid of sorts by putting this one up early. Next Friday’s though… tough one.

Star Soldier did a solid by sticking with what worked for the series. Aerofighters, on the other hand, went in a different direction… and effectively killed the series. Yes, they called the recent one a reunion, but it’s more like a revival of a long dormant brand that probably should have stayed dead if I’m being honest… but, hey, the more nostalgia you can dig out of mothballs, the better… allegedly.

Anyway, there may or may not be one more N64 game before we close out the month depending on how things turn out over the weekend. Honestly, I’ve been under the weather as of late and also there are other issues at work. I am hoping that things work out where we’ll have some sort of stream as scheduled, but if not, I’ll cook up something else in the interim and move the live show for another time.

Review #1296 – Star Soldier: Vanishing Earth (Nintendo 64)

Kind of last minute while also at the same time sort of lingering in the backlog and bucket list of reviews that desperately need to get knocked off. And this one’s nice and quick, too.

Oh, and Star Soldier continues to underwhelm on Nintendo. Oh goodie.

“But WAIT!” you yell, “What about Star Soldier R, which you are?”

To which I say, “You mean the WiiWare one? The one you can’t get anymore?

Exactly.

Review #1295 – WWF No Mercy (Nintendo 64)

Happy 3:16 Day. Celebrate the occasion with a listless episode of RAW that tries to sell you amateur hour rehearsals at the community theater as “cinema” while praying for the one bald guy to show up and raise some hell…

Or you can watch this video that covers an old WWF video game that people really like for some reason. And it’ll take less time than an episode of RAW, Smackdown, or even NXT, for that matter! Wrestling is fun (allegedly)!

You want mercy? Take your ass to church.

Review #1293 – Magical Tetris Challenge (Nintendo 64)

After almost three years of untouched and unloved dormancy, Nintendo 64 returns to the spotlight in grand fashion… in the form of a video review spotlighting a Tetris game featuring classic Disney characters. Did you honestly expect anything less?

But if that doesn’t tickle your fancy… No Mercy hits Monday. That’ll be a jam up game.

Review #860 – Gauntlet Legends (Nintendo 64)

Do yourself a favor and don’t shoot the 64-bit food in this Gauntlet Legends port on Nintendo 64.

For the longtime visitors and viewers of this stuff – my condolences – you may recall that the 500th and 600th reviews focused on Gauntlet games of this ilk, which makes one wonder what #900 is going to be if this is shunted out of that prestigious spot.
