New Power Rangers OFFICIAL Site looks pretty cool.

Don’t know when it went up, but the new official Power Rangers site looks pretty spiffy. Simple, basic, but incredibly functional and loads pretty quickly with little to no problem. Most of the info is a carryover from the old Disney layout, and they brought back the Saban-branded logos, but other than that, no real complaints.

Check the site out here.

RAW (Sept. 6th, 2010) – RAW 901… is better than RAW 900.

So the 901st episode of Monday Night RAW was actually pretty good and I thought it was very entertaining. Sure enough, WWE announced next week’s episode to be a “season premiere” of sorts (which makes no sense for a show that doesn’t have breaks – not to mention that the recent RAW box set counts the individual years as seasons… don’t try to make sense of it, it’s not worth it… but I digress.) And with a “special edition” of RAW comes suckiness. I think the top brass thought, “Hey, RAW was entertaining and people had a good time. Better tone that shit down a bit.”

Some thoughts:

Interestingly enough, Chris Jericho is out of the six-pack challenge due to losing a match to John Morrison. It was a pretty good match too, but I have a feeling that Jericho will squeak his way back into the title picture in the coming weeks.

Viewed in a purely entertainment context, I got a couple laughs out of the Edge/Khali contest. You’re never going to get a good match out of the Great Khali, so you have to work around that. And I think they’ve accomplished a purely entertaining sports-entertainment match here. No real complaints… see, I CAN enjoy a joke match once in a while.

Speaking of joke matches, there was a Diva’s match. Don’t care.

The Miz/Daniel Bryan segment, where Miz recaps his career and then Danielson challenges him to a US title match? Nice stuff there. I’m actually thoroughly entertained by this and am actually looking forward to this match. It was simple and effective. Can’t ask for more than that.

Randy Orton defeated Wade Barrett thanks to a distraction by Nexus outcast Darren Young, who is calling himself a “missing link” of some kind. As a result, Orton has the pleasure of jobbing to Cena next week (Justin Gabriel did the honors this week, but at least he put off a decent effort… more than I can say for John “I Can’t Sell” Cena).

So that was a rare good showing of Monday Night RAW. Does it make up for last week’s show? No, but this is the kind of effort they should have put into THAT show.

Later.

Pointless Preview, Bores….

I’m not going to start a diatribe on Chris Bores; pretty much everyone has a set opinion on him. So I’ll cut to the chase.

GotGame recently redid their website (a much needed redo, in my opinion, as the previous design was terrible) and of course, Bores has produced an Irate Gamer Neo episode on God of War III. The whole vid lasts roughly a minute and a half and doesn’t really say much as to merit a look.

On his Youtube channel, Bores posted a “preview” video for that new episode, which lasts about 45 seconds… that’s right. A 0:45 preview video for a 1:45 video review… that’s pretty sad, man.

RAW (Aug. 30th, 2010) – The MAC Guy calls his time on RAW “a disaster”… Also, RAW 900.

So my initial reaction to the 900th episode of RAW after watching that whole episode is as follows:

“This was a really lousy show. You know something? It’s so lousy and dull that I’d rather watch that Sharmell vs. Jenna Morasca match from Victory Road 2009.”

In hindsight, I don’t know if I’d go that far…

Regardless – and against my better judgment – I rewatched the 900th episode of RAW and have a few comments on it (most of which were going to be brought up on an upcoming Vlog, but whatever). Before I do that, I would like to share a sample of an interview done with Justin Long, co-star of the film “Going The Distance” but probably best known for his stint as the Mac guy on those Apple commercials ages ago. The snippet in particular covers his time hosting RAW some time ago:

While promoting the movie, you and co-stars Jason Sudeikis and Charlie Day appeared on WWE’s Monday Night Raw, right?
[Laughs] Yeah. In no way am I being self-deprecating when I say that was a disaster. It was just not the audience to be promoting a movie like that to. We were so out of place. It was just awkward. They’re all fired up to see guys pummeling each other, not to see three nerdy comedy guys do some bits. They played the trailer for this crowd and it just silenced them — and not in a good way.

So what do you do in a situation like that?
You just commit to it as best you can. We were in Los Angeles at the Staples Center, and the only time we really had the audience on our side was when we were praising the Lakers. And before that I think the majority of them were contemplating throwing things at us. There were a few homophobic remarks. I don’t want to generalize it, I know some wrestling fans. But it’s just not the audience.

Wow. Just wow. I guess not everyone can say they had a good time hosting Monday Night RAW. Can’t win them all, I suppose. (2024 Update: I had a link to the interview in question, but said link no longer works. Oh well.)

I guess we should talk about RAW.

VIDEO COMMENTARY #03 – Rad Reviews? Not in my book, pal.

(2013 Update: Replacing the original 2-part commentary video with the single video Extended Edition.)

Five reviews by a YouTuber by the name of Rad Reviews… not much substance to really pick one review so I sort of pick on all of them… it takes two videos to cover five videos that roughly amount to five minutes worth of thought stretched out to fifteen minutes worth of video.

On a sidenote, I will never, ever use that opening them again. Ever.
P.S. – Wow – both previews show Lord Zedd facepalming. Convenient? Oh yeah, definitely.

Dixie: “IMPACT going LIVE this October. TNA will be changed FOREVAH!” Oh wait…

Got the news from this page, who in turn got it from ol’ Dixie’s Twitter page.

So, Impact’s going live this October, huh? Long-term deal or short-term? Or is it LIVE once every few shows. And how exactly is this going to change TNA forever? And why does Dixie keep insisting that things are going to change forever every time she makes an announcement? Why all the hyperbole, Dixie? Is going live really going to fix your awful shows?

Maybe I’m being a bit too harsh… but remember the move to Mondays and how it was supposed to change TNA for-EVAH!!!

Oh wait, you don’t remember? That’s because I sneezed for one minute and all of a sudden they’re moving back to good old reliable Thursdays… and if I recall correctly, those Monday shows were also LIVE every other week.

Nice try, Dixie. But the only way you’re going to get me excited about TNA is if you actually do something about the horrible product, which is doing an excellent job of showcasing the wrong people and basically burying the true talents on your roster.

Thanks, but no thanks.

Bischoff: "Monday Night Impact was a mistake." NO SH!T!

Highlights from an Eric Bischoff interview: click here for the RAJAH page.

Only reason I’m posting this here is in relation to a previous VLOG that I’ve made (the one where TNA Tapped Out); I have to give props to Bischoff for admitting that the move to Mondays was an ill-conceived mistake and that it was a matter of bad timing to make the move.

I also like the pot shot he takes Bret for thinking that he had anything to do with stomping TNA out of Monday Night. Let’s be honest here; TNA pretty much did that to themselves and Bret being there made not one iota of a difference.

Also, in other news, from John Cena’s Twitter, regarding he was interested in being a pro on NXT:

“yes I asked, and was denied. Apparently u need more than 2 moves to officially be called a “pro” (enjoy that one)”

Oh yes, John. I most definitely will… enjoy that one. Ha. Ha. Ha.

Did I mention RAW 900 sucked?

Kaval (LowKi) Wins NXT? Cool. Heel Beatdown? Not cool.

In a rather nice surprise, Kaval (formerly known as Senshi and Low-Ki) won the NXT Season 2 contest… and then got beatdown for his troubles by all the sore losers of NXT. No doubt, these guys are going to get roles on the main roster (presumably Smackdown, since RAW already has the Nexus) – so once again, NXT is rendered completely pointless. Oh well, at least Kaval has a title shot.

As for the next season of NXT (seriously, how many seasons can you have in a fucking year?), it’ll be all Divas. So that’s one less show for me to not care about. On the other hand, I like the tall chick.
