WWE officials were very impressed with Dolph Ziggler’s performance in the match against John Cena on the January 7th RAW.

Not only did Ziggler receive high marks from officials, but John Cena was heard telling people about how smooth Ziggler worked the match and how he never has a bad match. There’s a feeling that 2013 will be a big year for Ziggler after all.

Last Monday was Christmas Eve. Spent it with family. Didn’t watch pre-taped RAW.

Show ended up scoring a 2.2 rating… which apparently is bad.

Tonight’s New Year’s Eve. So far spent it swapping computer hardware en masse and uploading videos while sharing a couple family moments. No interest in watching RAW.

What rating shall this show score?

Who cares?

Kind of odd timing that I would be discussing something that was leaked out a couple weeks ago, but all things considered, it’s still pretty noteworthy if they follow through on this plan. Basically, TNA is dumping two of their PPVs in order to increase build up for two other PPVs of considerable importance. The No Surrender PPV? Turfed to make the build to Bound For Glory more memorable. The Against All Odds PPV? Turfed to build to their Lockdown PPV.

For what it’s worth, I think this is a smart idea. PPVs in this day and age are getting up there in price and their importance happens to diminish every year. There use to be a time where PPVs would be the place where you’d get to see stories and feuds come to an end or, at the very least, progress such tales in the next chapter. Nowadays, they’re little more than placeholder shows you have to pay money for… and oftentimes, just build up to some special edition of RAW.

In TNA’s case, their focus should be to try and drum up interest in their Impact Wrestling show. Maybe shitcan a couple more PPVs and do a television special or two in their place similar to the old Clash Of The Champion shows that WCW used to put out. It’s worth considering, I think.

Once again, Sting makes his return to TNA as a series of promos on their program kindly inform you. Because it’s supposed to be a surprise that Sting would stick with TNA rather than do something different and unexpected.

Look, I think it’s safe to say that Sting sticking with TNA for the foreseeable future is a sure thing. There’s no need to build up his return to TV every year; it makes build ups for really special things seem less special in comparison. What’s next? Promo videos building up to the day where Ric Flair shits on his legacy further by wrestling another match in his continually deteriorating appearance?

Yeah, I didn’t realize Paul Heyman was Linda’s campaign manager.

You know what? Here’s the main difference between three-hour RAWs and three-hour WCW Monday Nitros. Three-hour Monday Nitro had the stale nWo and old guys dominating the main event scene, but at least they tried to put together a show that kept your interest, whether it’d be cruiserweights or top-notch wrestling or even the Goldberg squash. The only purpose of these three-hour RAWs seem to be to give me plenty of reasons NOT to care about the current product.

So the link above has the cover for WWE’s upcoming Attitude Era DVD… taking the form of a parody of The Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper cover… It takes a while to get used, but it kinda grew on me. It should be interesting to see how this thing comes out as far as the documentary is concerned. Will they feature Vince Russo like they did in the recent nWo feature? What crappy pandering commentary will John Cena add to the product while wearing his crappy merch? And most importantly, will any mention of WWF or the WWF scratch logo be erased?

Perhaps even more amusing, however, is some of the resulting comments on that page, which tends to point out the major critical issue with the current WWE product. Because when YURPLE THE CLOWN – a character that had a grand total of TWO appearances at most – when YURPLE THE CLOWN is a more memorable and interesting character than guys like Brad Braddox (or whatever the fuck his face is) or Heath Slater or Ezekial Jackson or even fucking Ryback… it’s a sure sign that you need new storytellers.

THAT’s where the facepalm comes in.

So Barrack Obama won himself a second term as U.S. President. Good for him, but it’s peanuts compared to the bigger news story; for the second time in three years, Linda McMahon is not elected Senator of Connecticut… and thank fuck for that.

I haven’t been following RAW in what seems like forever, only managing small snippets and reading online reports, but you know a show is bad when even reading a text recap puts you to sleep. Honestly, there was nothing on the show that gave me much incentive to watch. If they’re trying to tell stories, they need new storytellers, because their current stories suck.

Meanwhile, over at Dixie Land Impact… am I the only one who’s getting tired of this Aces And Oh Point Eight thing going on? You figured that they would have resolved this at their Bound For Glory PPV, but apparently they want this thing to last another six months. Yeah, it was a good thing for a while, but now it’s starting to get boring. Hasn’t Uncle Eric learned anything from the nWo debacle?

On a happier note, I got my hands on WWE ’13… on Wii.
