Slowly But Surely Getting There

So… good news on the leg front. I’ve been walking around a bit more and was able to squeeze in a session of SFB with my brother. If all goes well, I should be back on my feet in a week or so and business can return to normal.

Just a quick post this time around. But I’ll be back later on with news on the future of the blog. (Good news, I hope.)

Later,
Dave.

Leg

Hello, everyone.

So I guess an update is in order since the somewhat cryptic posts that I left this past Friday. And that update is that I had a brief stay at the hospital due to a blood clot in my leg that has been causing me some rather sufficient pain. And because pain and me go hand in hand like a Roman Reigns Wrestlemania Main Event and an approving audience, I spent the better part of a Thursday at the emergency ward and another trip on Friday morning to get the necessary treatments, which includes a year’s worth of anticoagulants and some light activities.
Since part of that prescription means spending most of my time in bed and nowhere closing to a seating position, I spent the better part of the weekend bed-ridden while making minute efforts in trying to walk under my own power. The good news in this regard is that I’m slowly but surely starting to get enough strength in my leg that I can walk around (with some difficulty, but not too much) on my power for about fifteen minutes several times a day.
The bad news is that I’m still a long ways to go before I can comfortably sit at a desk to get shit done. And that means the period of inactivity here on the blog – save for the few text posts I have in reserve – continues and may very well continue until the end of the month. In fact, I’m sort of sneaking this one post in and my leg isn’t holding up very well. So I guess I’ll be doing more walking and lying on my back.
On the bright side, however, being incapacitated means I’m able to relax and brainstorm a few ideas. Possibly even getting stuff ready to go when I’m ready to get stuff done. I’m aiming for May to get back to work (both online and in real life) and a week or so later should see videos return in a big way. I’ve lost a lot of time because of this clot and I want to catch up as much as possible.
So I bid you adieu for now and would like to give a piece of advice; if something seems off, don’t wait until the last possible moment before it gets serious. Get it checked out before it becomes something bad.
Anyway, got to go.
Later,
Dave

A Bunch Of Random Crap

So, a couple folks have been wondering why there hasn’t been much RAW talk on the blog, considering they started building towards Wrestlemania and also they recently had the Ultimate Deletion that saw Bray Wyatt get deleted and stuff. Well, it boils down to a couple reasons.

1 – I’ve been recovering from a cold. Hence the lack of frequent “worthwhile” posts such as videos and stuff.

2 – I haven’t had the need to watch RAW in years and whatever I might’ve missed, I can easily catch on Youtube via official clips. No need to sit through three hours of stuff.

Right now, there’s nothing on the “road to Wrestlemania” that has me remotely interested in the show beyond a strictly superficial level, but with news of Daniel Bryan Danielson being cleared to compete, I may be tempted to follow the road a little more closely… but not too closely, because I’ve got stuff to catch up on.

In other news, I’ve been lagging on the movie watching bit as of late. Off the top of my head, the last movie that I can recall going to the theatre to watch was The Last Jedi and since then, there hasn’t been much that piqued my interest. No, not even the modern-day blaxploitation film Black Panther has garnered much interest from me. I don’t know, man. There’s nothing on the waves or on the tube that has me really hooked as of late. I’ve dabbled on some of the Marvel stuff on Netflix, but after Defenders, I was done.

Now I just stick with binging on old episodes of Star Trek, Power Rangers, and other stuff. And mostly for the purposes of trying to turn those viewing experiences into material for the blog… which may or may not be considered a bad thing, I don’t know.

So I decided to make the plunge and donate a couple bucks of Classic Game Room’s Patreon page so that I could check out the new Classic Game Room 2085 show that started earlier this month. This new show is available on Amazon Prime… in the U.S. Outside of the U.S., you’re shit out of luck, which means signing on to the Patreon and checking out the shows there. And in hindsight, I’m glad that I DIDN’T make the plunge to Prime, as there was no way I could honestly justify going with a one-year commitment for a service that would have me watch just one show.

So, about Classic Game Room 2085… it’s essentially the same Classic Game Room that you got for the past couple years, except much longer and with more stuff within. Each episode features a game review, some viewer mail, and a couple other features depending on the theme of the show. I want to say that the show feels like a step up from the smaller reviews, but the truth is it’s really more of the same. Now for me, that’s fine and the longer format feels a bit more flexible, but if you didn’t care for the recent reviews on the old Youtube channel, then this new 2085 variation isn’t going to change your mind any better.

Anyway, I’m going to see if I can get back into the groove of finding my voice so I can start dubbing videos again. I desperately need to catch up in that regard, but on the bright side, most of the text stuff that’s on tap to be posted in the near future is pretty much done and will publish on schedule. So that’s one less headache to worry about.

Later, folks.

No Celebration On My End

I don’t dwell into politics here… but I want to provide a quick comment.

40 years ago, my home province passed a law designed to protect the integrity of its mother tongue.

It’s since been used to treat anyone that isn’t born here or French-speaking like the enemy.

It is, for all intents and purposes, legalized bigotry and prejudice.

This is not a condemnation of the people. People are good-natured folks.

This is a condemnation of the lawmakers who give good people the means to turn into bigots.

That’s all I’ve got to say about that.

Advice To Websites: DON'T SET YOUR SHITTY VIDEOS ON AUTOPLAY

Why is it that every time I go to a website to read an article, there’s always a video that plays automatically? More often than not, that video has nothing to do with the article in question. This isn’t a convenience. It’s a waste of time to have to scroll on a video and tell it to stop. This is especially trying when a page has multiple videos and they all play at the same time.

Or even worse; the video will still play and appear in the corner. Yeah, because if I don’t want to watch the video in a big format, SURELY I’ll want to watch the same thing in a much smaller screen tucked away in the corner.

Here’s some free advice to websites with video supplements to their articles; don’t set your videos on autoplay. If I want to watch your shitty videos, I’ll click on them myself and watch them. If I want to read the articles, then I don’t want some idiot blasting into my ears unless it’s something I’m playing on my own volition.

Goddamn, kid. I need a stiff drink.

Or fifty.
