The Green Ranger Takes A Dump

I’m pretty sure that braindead fans will no doubt consider this a piece of badassery because it’s some idiot with a Green Ranger helmet.

I just think it’s a funny visual… and a relevant piece of “art” for a work in progress.

The sad thing is that if you gave Jason David Frank a script for an episode of Power Rangers that involved him taking a dump for twenty minutes while in the Green Ranger costume, HE’D MOST LIKELY DO IT.

You know… for the fans… who’d probably eat this shit up easily if it happened.

* By the way, the original toilet picture is from an actual movie poster… I believe it’s the Dubya biopic from a couple years ago. I’d double-check, but I’m far too lazy at the moment.

Technicolor Tommy Challenges CM Punk To A Fight… WHAT?

Yeah, so Jason Frank wants to challenge CM Punk to a MMA match. Just digest that for a minute… and then let’s follow that up with this.

Boy, oh boy, talk about your delusions of grandeur. Seriously, man, what the fuck is wrong with you? Jesus Christ, man, why don’t you just shoot a challenge over to Bozo The Clown or something?

I guess this clip sums up my feelings on the matter.

And he SPEAKS the truth.

So I Finally Watched Some Samurai…

…and boy was it painful.

So this is an odd series for me? It’s the first new Power Rangers season since RPM in 2009 and the first under the current Saban ownership. And yet it feels like a complete and utter regression of sorts. We’re bringing back the Go Go Power Rangers theme with slightly altered lyrics to fit the theme (something they’d do for Megaforce as well, which means they’re lacking in originality). And then we have these paper thin main characters that have very basic traits and not much else going for it.
I don’t want to blame the actors because they’re doing the best they can, but the show tends to be unbearable due to the clunky and horrific dialogue. Apparently, this is a near-straight adaptation of the Sentai show this was based on, which isn’t a new approach for Power Rangers, since it’s been done in past seasons. However, whereas seasons like Time Force attempted to put its own spin on things to make things interesting, Samurai doesn’t really do that.
I’ve only saw a few episodes at most and promptly gave up. I thought the series had reach a low with SPD or Operation Overdrive… and well, I have a feeling we’ll be going even lower…
But that’s another story.

You Know What Would've Been Nice?

If they had made the genuine effort and cash offers to try and bring back most of the original cast so they can do an episode of Megaforce and use them in a way that would be pretty cool and noteworthy. Probably not to the little kids who care only for the colorful costumes, but as a nice nod to the older folks who have stuck around since the beginning.

Gokaiger had this cool schtick where in almost every episode, they’d bring back an old Super Sentai legend from a past series and they do some cool shit or something. Honestly, that’s something they could do with Megaforce. That Super Mega Battle thing at the end isn’t going to mean much if they only have a few random faces and everyone else is in the background.

I don’t know. Maybe I put more thought into this than Saban did.

Congratulations, Linkara… I Really Mean It

I’ve sat through a Linkara video for the first time in ages… technically not a Linkara video since he was accompanied by someone called Obscurus Lupa or something… one of those TGWTG personalities I never heard of. Anyway, they did a riff of sorts on the timeless Christmas special, Alpha’s Magical Christmas. Yes,  they’re talking about a Christmas video in the tail end of March… which actually doesn’t bother me all that much. Hell, if you can have Halloween in July, why not Christmas in March? Who cares about Easter anyway?

But I digress…

So I watch this video. After watching said video, I can honestly say that if there was anything worse than sitting through Alpha’s Magical Christmas in its entirety, it’s sitting through a really shitty riff of it. So, congratulations, Lewis. You participated in something that somehow managed to outsuck Alpha’s Magical Christmas. It takes a real feat of accomplishment to do that.
On the bright side, this video wasn’t saddled with pointless storyline drivel. It was nice, simple, and to the point. It still sucked (and not in the “so bad it’s good” way – no, it really sucked the big one), but at least it wasn’t taken down to CWC levels of unbearability with rubbish stories.
If you want a good review and riffing of Alpha’s Magical Christmas (and don’t mind a bit of reading), check out this classic X-Entertainment posting which goes through the special without the waffle.
