No More Blockbusters

A product of a bygone era, the last remnants of the “video store” era, has finally been put to rest. The funny thing is that I haven’t seen a Blockbuster store around these parts in years, as the one big store on Sherbrooke Street closed up shop back in the mid-2000s. The mom-and-pop shop close to home, on the other hand, is still alive and well.

Oh well. Goodbye, Blockbuster. You were slightly missed.

Paul Walker Killed In Car Crash

Really sad to hear about this. It seems to be something of a rather disturbing irony that a star of a franchise based around car chases and dangerous stunt driving would be killed in a car crash. No doubt, I won’t be the only one to make note of this. Even so, it’s always unfortunate to lose someone before his time.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the Walker family.

Quick Thoughts On… Ashens And The Quest For The Gamechild

Just saw the Ashens movie… Will probably get back to this in a fuller post, but suffice it to say, I thought it was an enjoyable little flick. The story was decent, there were some funny bits, the movie looked very good, there’s some Multiverse cameos if you’re into that sort of thing, and most of all, I thought it had a nice flow throughout the movie. There was never any instance where the movie dragged or where I could see a joke coming a mile away every ten seconds or so; even with the bit of foreshadowing at the beginning of the movie that I completely missed the first time around.

All in all, I thought it was a pretty good flick. It’s not anything high caliber or high art – it does have some issues here and there – but certainl,y it was a better movie than the various rubbish specials put out by Channel Awesome over the past few years. Really, if you enjoy the Ashens stuff and want a fun little movie to watch, definitely give this a look. It’s well done, it’s a fun movie, and most enticing of all, it’s free… quite a pleasant surprise because this deserves the DVD treatment.

So… Jimmy. Your turn.

Chappy Took A Crappy And Blamed It On Chef

So if your business is failing and you need help, but then someone offers the help and you don’t take it, why did you even bother?

For those wondering, Gordon Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares show went to a New Orleans-style restaurant in Nashville that’s known for its chef who wears a tall hat and apparently has little man syndrome. Ramsay naturally destroyed his food, introduced Chappy to the idea of people who only eat fish, and then did the whole overhaul of the locale and menu… and then Chappy turned around and went back to his shitty menu.

And then he wonders why his business is failing.
