Two months into my self-imposed moratorium on Power Rangers comics, especially after word broke that Drakkon was making a comeback in one issue, which turned out to be a flashback thing or something. But just the fact that we’re teasing a possible return leaves no hope going forward.

Lord Drakkon Retu… OH FUCK OFF!
Source: https://www.powerrangersnow.com/sabans-go-go-power-rangers-issue-23-details/
So, this is supposed to be a new direction for the Power Rangers comics from Boom… and what do they give us? Their shitty “Evil Tommy” bad guy comes back from… something or other.
You know what? I’m done.
The minute I’ve heard the news and came across the above source, I went over to my Comixology account and cancelled my subscriptions to both the Go Go series and the MMPR series. I am done with this shit.
From this point forth, I am on a six-month moratorium from anything pertaining to Boom Studios’ Ranger comics. I was willing to give it a chance going forward – especially with the rather underwhelming Beyond The Grid storyline – but if this is what I have to look forward to, then I am done for the foreseeable future.
I’ve seen Evil Tommy-types done better in poorly written fanfictions than what was done with this dipshit. Hell, I’ve done the Evil Tommy bit and even he comes off as more compelling than this fucking doofus… especially considering how he met his ultimate defeat at the end of that other wankfest.
Fuck off. Fuck off, all you fuckers. Fuck you.
I’m done.
Good night.
Beyond The Grid… Lies A World Void Of Purpose
So the recent Beyond The Grid story-arc that has dominated the MMPR comic book series has concluded. This is the one with the ragtag band of Rangers who act almost nothing like their on-screen portrayals, the one with the OC ship that not only fulfills the diversity checklist just fine but also become Rangers themselves, the one with the somewhat inconsistent artwork (though to be fair, it only slightly got better towards the end), and the one with the ultimate drab and uninteresting storylines again.
I have somewhat soured on this story before it even became a thing, because it deviated from what the series is supposed to be focused on. And even though I wasn’t on board with it, I was willing to give it a chance. And to be fair, there’s a couple good points I could bring up. I like the idea of the Praetor being a fallen Morphin Master; I think there’s potential behind that idea that I felt wasn’t explored all that much here. And to be fair, this whole ragtag band of Rangers lost in time or whatever was something that could’ve made for its own series… its own series, I emphasize.
It’s just unfortunate that something with potential is squandered by what is essentially sub subpar fanfiction drivel… and I’ve written such drivel in the past, so I’d know. And after having to sit through a dozen issues of Kyle Higgins’ unapologetic Tommy wankfest, I would’ve liked to have seen something better and well… that’s not why I got.
But, hey. Issue 40 is supposed to jump us into the second season with a brand-new White Ranger guy and half the team replaced. Some would suggest that this is a return to form and it’ll be the usual suspects, but given how Boom wants to “swerve” fans for the sake of swerving fans, I’m wondering if I should even expect good things out of that camp.
Oh well, at least the secondary Go Go series is alright.
Saw That Endgame Movie…
So, for those who care, I ended up watching that Endgame movie over the weekend and I’ll just say that as a film that concludes eleven years worth of cinematic continuity, it was satisfying enough. Without dipping too much into spoilers, everything is tied up with a nice little bow and there’s some of the usual big spectacles with everyone all over the place, the usual assortment of funny jokes along with some not-so-funny jokes, and they found a way to write off the folks who no longer have contracts to do more movies.
Regularly Scheduled MMPR Returns To Comics In Issue 40
And apparently, the series is jumping ahead to the White Ranger days… and we’re getting another “event” comic story called “Necessary Evil.” Which means it’s probably an excuse to bring back that Drakkon character again. On the flip side, it’s from the same fellow who’s currently writing the secondary Go Go comic, which is actually quite nice.
In any event, it’ll be a long wait before we get back to the title characters being advertised because the current “Grid” story is doing nothing for me right now.
Chris Hemsworth Goes From God Of Thunder To Racist Pro Rassler

“So, Thor. I want you to give me the hammer so I can have something nice to give Pepper.”
“Sorry, Stark. But that does not work for me, brother.”
OR
“I snap my fingers and half the universe is gone.”
“That doth not worketh for me, brother-eth.”
Plenty of jokes you can go with that one.
Boom’s Practices Suck
I usually save this for the wrestling related bits, but this is something that bothers me a bit.
Hardcover editions should be for collecting pre-existing issues and including some neat little bonus bits, not including stories integral to your overall narrative. Boom including stories in their MMPR hardcover collections that are part of their overall story (Volume 1 has a Drakkon related thing and Volume 2 has the origins of their custom Psycho Ranger paint job) is a pretty scummy move in an effort to drive more people in to rebuying shit they already have.
They’re basically Malibu Stacy with a new hat.
Razor’s Tribute To Stan Lee
Nothing I could say could truly cover the scope of what the late Stan Lee brought to the table. That’s why I’m including Razorfist’s own video tribute to The Man and honestly, he sums things up better than I ever could.
Instead, I simply say that there will never be another Stan Lee.
Excelsior.
Shinzon… Drakkon… Rhaka Kahn…
This Praetor fellow… eh, not entirely sold. If only because there’s a sinking feeling in the back of my mind that this is just going to be another Drakkon repackage since BOOM and whoever’s writing stuff needs to continue their hard-on for such a wretchedly lazy character.
However, I remain somewhat cautiously optimistic that this is someone different, especially since it’s no longer Kyle “JDF’s Secret Love Slave” Higgins writing the thing.
Not a fan of that Solar Ranger design, however.
Actually, now that I think about it, the art is actually pretty hideous… especially when it comes to faces.
Oh well… I haven’t been completely turned off by this new direction. But I’m just hoping we eventually get back to what’s advertised on the cover and these fellows can end up in their own spin-off comic or something.
The Temporary Sabbatical Of Daredevil…
So Marvel announced the Temporary Sabbatical (I refuse to call it Death) of Daredevil storyline and wouldn’t you know it? It’s being written by the same guy who wrote the Temporary Sabbatical Of Wolverine back in 2014… which they undid last year.
Does this guy have ANY original ideas in him?
Does the comic book industry for that matter?
My brain hurts.
