PPV Predictions: WWE No Way Out 2007

Okay, it’s cutting a little close to the PPV start time, but cut me some slack. I’ve got the flu and didn’t realize there was a PPV tonight until I browsed WWE.com a few hours ago. Despite my less than happy conditions, These predictions are going to be nice and quick, since I want to get back to bed. I may miss a match or two here, but at this point, I don’t really have the energy to do further research (as opposed to not having the energy to make an effort to do further research). I just wanna go to bed.

So here we go:

PPV Predictions: Cyber-Sunday 2006

Two years ago, WWE had attempted a rather unique Pay-Per-View experiment… no, not the Tuesday PPV – THAT experiment had been done many years ago featuring a paltry rematch between Undertaker and Hulk Hogan. I’m talking about the interactive aspect of a show where fans have some control over what goes on in the match, either by choosing stipulations or choosing challengers to championships. Last year’s show seemed to be enough of a success that they’re trying it again this year. Now, to reiterate what I had said in the Taboo Tuesday 2004 ramblings, this wasn’t the greatest PPV I had seen, but it was something different and unique that broke the monotony of PPVs, all which seemed to booked in the same way.

Others might feel differently, but I thought that the Taboo Tuesday concept was a novel idea and shows that WWE are willing to take chances and try something different when they feel like it. Earlier this year, WWE suspended one of their regular PPVs and replaced it with an ECW one, a show that I can say was pretty entertaining. Not because the wrestling was any good, mind you, but mostly because it was a different offering from what we are commonly used to seeing from McWrestling.

PPV Predictions: WWE Unforgiven 2006

Tonight is the latest edition of WWE’s Unforgiven Pay-Per-View and you know what? This is actually shaping up to be a pretty awesome card for what is essentially a throwaway show. Even though the build to get here is practically non-existant (or if there was any, it didn’t work), the matches pretty much speak for themselves and that’s good enough for me. So let’s get this done.

PPV Predictions: WWE Summerslam 2006

Haven’t done one of these predictions in quite some time, so excuse me for dusting off the cobwebs. Anyway, you should know the drill by now: I list all the advertised matches and give my thoughts on who wins and what the actual match might entail. One look at the card, though, shows that they haven’t booked any of those god-awful Diva matches into the show, although heaven forbid if WWE doesn’t make us suffer from their apparent lack of skill.

PPV Predictions – WWE Backlash 2006

I was gonna do one for ‘Mania, but instead I shot out Ramblemania. So let’s do one for Backlash instead. If you don’t know the deal, I’m not about to explain so browse back in the Blog for details. As usual, these days my comments are going to be short and sweet unless I feel a running commentary really is needed.

PPV Predictions – TNA Destination X 2006

For anyone wondering, I’ll be posting the second part of the Wrestlemania feature sometime this week, along with predictions for the show and the other show when a full match card has been established for either or.

In the meantime, I’m doing predictions for a TNA pay-per-view. Not bad, considering I don’t currently follow the product other than through the Internet reports (since I’m poor and live in Canada). In any case, my comments might be short and sweet for the most part, but what I have to say… is a bit. So let’s get this over and done with.

So mind you, since I don’t know half these guys, I’m mostly going to do a coin-flip for most of these matches. In any case…

PPV Predictions – WWE No Way Out 2006

I have a dilemma. It involves professional wrestling, which is slowly turning itself into sports-entertainment. Unfortunately, sports-entertainment, for all intents and purposes, sucks and it affects the wrestling aspect of it.

Last week, I caught a video of the Christian Cage/Jeff Jarrett NWA title match from the TNA pay-per-view which aired a while back. Yeah, the constant interferences didn’t help much, but I still got a good, enjoyable match, not only because it was a different taste from the stale product that is McWrestling, but because the right guy won. Kudos to Christian for not only winning his first World title, but for also proving to all the naysayers that his jump to TNA was for the better and hopefully, it will entice other WWE talents to jump over and get to showcase their true talents.

But this isn’t about TNA. It’s about WWE. Specifically, we’re here for the PPV. As I write this, the show is a half-hour away from starting and I’ve built up enough energy to actually comment on some of these match-ups as opposed to the half-assed commentary prevalent in the last few of these predictions. So let’s fire up this sucker, shall we?

(Oh yeah, added results too.)

PPV Predictions – WWE Royal Rumble 2006

I was supposed to get this up last night, but shit happens. So here they are now in a quick and convenient format: my predictions for Rumble 2k6.

EDIT NOTE: Since I haven’t seen the show and got the results from show reports, I’ll forgo the usual banter and just post the winners, along with my usual scorecards. Expect some thoughts concerning these results on Friday.
