The Show Resumes… Somewhat

So now that we got the Brodie Lee tribute week in the books, we can now resume “nonreal” operations… which includes trying to get this 100-Post Challenge on the road… and yes, those do count. And the usual Post Of The Week gimmick will stay linked to the Brodie Lee tribute page, which will have all the linked content on the page.

And with that, we move on to something else…

Some folks might notice that I have changed the colors on the page. While testing some out on the site, I came to the sudden realization that black text on somewhat medium-dark gray backgrounds are difficult to read at a distance and so I made it the boxes lighter… almost white in a way. I haven’t had much in the way of complaints in terms of appearance, but it’s just something that needed to change.

Over the coming weeks, I’ll be making some other minor tweaks to the blog – additional work on the menu and possibly introducing new pages to navigate content on the pages. This is all backburner stuff that will pop up here and there.

Regarding future content… I’ve touched on this in the recent edition of the DTM-Cast, but I’m attempting the 100-Post Challenge this month and while things have gone to a slow start, things will eventually pick up. All I can tell you is that Sundays and Wednesdays will be the most bulkiest of days. This coming Sunday will feature no less than twenty-four comic reviews… so that’s something to look forward… okay, maybe not.

So we’ll see what happens… I guess.

An Old Review Is Apparently Not Fit For Anyone By Youtube

Yeah, so I got this Sunday morning and this came out of nowhere.
It’s the old Pac-Man review from 2011 and after reviewing the video, I’m wondering what happened here that caused Youtube to suddenly lose their shit and make this the equivalent of hardcore pornography. Honestly, I’m not really hurting over this. It’s an old video that’s garnered very few views and something tossed together as a lark more than anything… however, for some reason, I decided to appeal this decision. Worth a try, I suppose.
So I submit the following appeal.
So, this nine-year old video is apparent age-restricted for reasons that have not been clearly specified and after reviewing the video in question, I found a video that does not feature any semblance of pornography, hate speech, graphic content, or even swearing. The description (literally just a single sentence) does not feature any links or keywords to anything that would feature inappropriate content. And while the video was never intended for children, I found nothing that would be considered inappropriate for said younger audience. Therefore, I would like to not only appeal this decision, but I would also appreciate any specific reasoning that led to this decision. Regards.
A few hours later, I got a reply from Youtube, who saw that the video did not, in fact, violate any Community Guidelines and is safe for all audiences. Glad we’ve got that sorted out in a prompt manner.
And hey, I’ve no ill will here. Mistakes happen, the system isn’t perfect, and sometimes I wonder if the smaller creators have any semblance of a voice in this bloated “influencer” market… but some good can come of it, cooler heads prevail, and life goes on.
So, thanks, YouTube.

SurSerZZZZZ, New Review Coming Thursday

I attempted to watch the Survivor Series PPV yesterday and within the first match between the red shirts and blue shirts, I fell asleep. I don’t think I ever had a show put me to sleep as quickly as this did. So… we’ll try again later. Don’t know if I’m writing anything on this… might save it for a DTM-Cast or something.

In other blog notes, there’s a new Sunday Gimmick Table this coming Sunday, and Thursday will see a new video review.

Reviews Returning Next Week

So I’ve been laxed on the review uploads as of late, as the goal of hitting 800 total video game reviews before the end of 2020 seems less likely. However, things are picking up and reviews should be returning to the blog this week. Hoping to close out on 780 and I’m sticking with mostly smaller scale reviews, but this saves the “bigger” stuff for the front load of 2021, which will come along later.

Stay tuned for more details, I suppose.

Bad Gas Derails Plans, So Here’s Some Havoc

Stomach issues, sadly, derailed any work to be done on the blog, so it’s light slimmings. On the one hand, this allows the Youtube side of things to catch up in regards to the video content. On the other hand, no new videos this week on the blog beyond, maybe one or two picks along the way.

However, those who missed my PPV Musings for whatever reason will be happy to learn that two new ones will be posted this week. Neither are current PPVs as I haven’t seen either one from this weekend, but they are old WCW shows relating to a certain gimmick that will be making a comeback on this week’s edition of NXT. So look forward to that eventually.

Other than that, everything is up in the air. If something comes up, it’ll be up… but videos have been curtailed yet again.

I swear the doughnut isn’t at fault. I recorded that video two weeks ago.

Plans Ahoy.

Did I mention how much I hate the new Blogger layout? Is there a premium option that lets me use the old, working Blogger instead of using the new, shitty one? Maybe I’ll get used to it in a couple years before they make another change that’s even worse.

So I suppose I’ll forgo plans for a “regular schedule” on this blog and stick with whatever’s ready for this year. Honestly, I’d be happy if 2020 can go fly a kite and we can move on to next year, where things might be… eh, I don’t want to jinx it.

Here’s a comforting thought; January will be the 100-Post Challenge, where I attempt to produce 100 pieces of material. Nothing concrete yet, but I can assure you that there will be no audio or video posts; it’ll either be written or imagery posts. The sooner we bury 2020, the better.

And once February hits, then we’ll have a “regular schedule” of sorts… but right after the X marathon that may or may not kick off next year’s review cycle.

Later.

Welp, The New Blogger Is A Thing

It’s still ass. It’s not quite as useful unless I want to search specific posts for editing, which is rare. But it’s a pain in the ass to use and I’m not thrilled at the prospect of having to use this utterly worthless piece of shit interface for the foreseeable future until they come up with a new editing scheme that sucks even worse.

Fortunately, my tab that has the old Legacy Blogger gimmick hasn’t been updated and thank fuck for that. Who knows how long that will last, but I’m going to make the most of it while I can.

A dissatisfied customer.

Dailies Start Next Week (And Gripes About The New Blogger)

So I’ll begin by saying that I’ve tried the new Blogger editing bits a couple times and I’ve hated it. Some things work better in the new system, like the search function. A better search function is not a good trade-off for something that is not particularly intuitive and user friendly. Eventually, like Youtube getting an unneeded change every few years, this is going to be the norm whether I like it or not, which makes me wonder if I should’ve jumped elsewhere, after all.

Oh well, I’ll try and make the most of it. A lot of old archived material is slowly making its way over to the blog and I’d imagine that process will be done by the end of the month. Also, next week will be the return of daily posts and a sustained schedule for both written and video bits. More details to come later.

Working on some videos this week and I’m hoping that I’ll be able to bang out five for next week, but fingers crossed because the work ahead is loathsome.

That’s all for now. Enjoy your week.

Hiatus From Wrestling-Related Posts

So, given all the bad wrestling press and all the bad people that have been exposed as a result, I’m thinking that I need a break from all this wrestling stuff. So for the next month or so – barring the eventual WWE 2K18 review posting to Youtube – I will refrain from posting anything related to wrestling. No PPVs, no AEW, or anything in between. I’m just not into that sort of thing anymore.

Maybe in August… but for now, I’ll fill the time with other stuff.

Breaking The Week Down…

Quick notes of sorts…

– The SMB2 and SMB3 reviews will be up Thursday and Friday respectively. From there, expect the next few weeks after to be nothing but Tuesday and Friday reviews from then on.

– This week’s PPV Musings will be the AEW Double Or Nothing show from a few weeks ago and then next week will be the February 1997 In Your House PPV. For the four people wondering, I have not watched the Takeover show from yesterday.

– There will be no daily post tomorrow. The focus will be more on trying to build some stability to the website.

Continual downtime for another month or so and the lack of desire to go anywhere beyond basic essentials means spending more time working on the blog, including much needed work that I’ve held off for years and must get around to putting together.
