What was that thing people keep saying? Nothing ever happens during a WWE Draft?
Epic stuff going on, as this draft seemed to have made some actual hard changes.

I had recently purchased a copy of an old NES game called Stinger, which looked to be a sequel or spin-off to that Twin Bee game I’ve played on the multicarts. Never really played it, but it came in an actual box! Amazing.
So I get home and popped the sucker into my FC Twin and pushed the power on. It was then I saw something was wrong.
For you see, the game I bought wasn’t a shoot-em-up called Stinger, but a shoot-em-up called Tiger Heli. It’s not a bad game by any means; just not the one I wanted to pick up.
So yeah, I feel ripped off – but on the other hand, it makes a good joke to play on someone who wants a “classic” game.
Also, while we’re on the subject of oddball gaming purchases, I picked up a copy of Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom for NES… despite a whole bunch of people making videos about how bad the game is. I’ll probably post a review of the game (written form), but I highly recommend checking out the three-part Terrible NES Games Theatre review done by ericmansuper – it’s perhaps the most in-depth and downright entertaining video reviews I’ve seen. Just look it up on YouTube and you’ll find it quick.
Haven’t bashed WWE in a while now, so let’s have some fun.
Tonight is the second Million Dollar contest, where a bunch of random fans will be eligible to win thousands of dollars (with one lucky fan possibly winning two dollars – yes, I’m serious). I don’t know about you, but I had such a good time watching the Million Dollar mayhem (sarcasm, of course – although LOL at Vince being rick rolled) that I immediately switched to an older Ring of Honor show that was airing on the Fight Network.
Yeah, Vince. I’m really looking forward to tonight’s publicity stunt as well as your ongoing quest to devote as little time and money as possible to the contract wrestlers that risk their lives to keep you in business.
Top notch, man!

A vintage 2008 review from the old DTM Webstation days talking about the old Yobo Factor 5 clone system. I figured that I had this laying around somewhere and here it is. Also included is a picture of said console. Suffice it to say; the console isn’t around any more.
Yobo’s Factor 5 is considered to be a follow-up to the FC Game Console, their previous NES clone effort. Not much has been said about the Factor 5, except for the fact that it includes a special cart with five additional games and also includes a light gun which looks like a real pistol, except it rattles and doesn’t work… well, at least mine doesn’t, but no matter. Deciding to be brave (and also because I had twenty dollars to waste on frivolous purchases), I picked one up and thus am only the second person to review this console (the first was Video Games Central, a gaming store). A week after playing the console, I have it tucked away in a drawer as an afterthought.
THE GOOD: The one thing noticeable about the Factor 5 is how small and light the whole thing is. Chances are it might even be smaller than Yobo’s FC Game Console release, but I can’t say for sure. Other than that, it has a nice little design that makes it a little more aesthetically pleasing than the the FC Console’s plain box design, even if the color scheme is almost embarrassing. What I do like about the Factor 5 are the controllers. Quite simply, they seem a little fragile (and probably are), but these are some comfortable controllers and fairly responsive as well. While I don’t care for the button layout, it works at least and the turbo buttons are within reach if you need them, so good stuff there. There’s also a slow button, but any gamer worth their salt knows that slow buttons are almost always useless. Besides that, not too shabby. Of course, you could always use original NES controllers if you’d like… a good thing for those with functional Zappers.
THE BAD: For some reason or another, the included cartridge doesn’t seem to work – always a good sign when the included cartridge designed specifically for the console doesn’t even work. It could be my copy not functioning, as I’ve seen a video demonstrating the five games themselves – fairly generic looking things as far as I could tell – so we’ll let it pass. As for the console itself, to quote a funny YouTube doctor from the UK, it feels light, cheap, and plasticky. It almost seems like the whole thing was stuck together with some hot glue and you get the feeling that it’s going to snap at any minute every time you pull out the cartridge. I’m not joking either; people tend complain about how hard it is to pull out NES games from the FC Twin’s slot, but I never had a problem with it and once you find the right way of doing it, it’s not much of a hassle. But this seems to take the effort of three Supermen to remove the bloody cartridge and the whole thing feels really fragile. A quick look inside the machine through the cartridge slot (and thus requiring no real effort to pull the thing apart) shows that there’s nothing in it: just a connector and some strips for external connections such as controller ports or A/V slots. Nothing more, nothing less. Everything looks glued together. Again, always a good sign.
So the hardware itself… basically, it’s a NES-on-a-chip. Specifically the older model with imperfect sound emulation and extremely bright colors. It seems that for whatever reason, Yobo decided not to utilize the updated NOAC model featured on the FC Twin (the one with near-perfect sound emulation) and utilize the old one from their previous clone console. Another pet peeve is wire length; much like the FC Twin, the included controllers and AC adaptor have notoriously short wires, so have a couple extension cords handy and try searching for authentic controllers especially if you want to sit as far away from your TV screen as possible.
OVERALL: Generally speaking, there’s a good reason there hasn’t been any word on the Factor 5 console. Anyone expecting to find an updated version of Yobo’s FC Console will be sorely disappointed, as it is simply the same inferior NOAC technology only with a new name and fancier look. Unlike the FC Twin console which has been known to update its NOAC incrementally as later models are built, the plain vanilla Yobo FC hasn’t changed much. On the one hand, you can nab it for a cheap price, use vintage NES controllers – something you couldn’t do on the Twin or even the Retro Duo without some fancy work – and even comes with a cartridge full of games (if you can get the damn thing to work). On the other hand, the sound emulation is pretty poor, the colors are somewhat brighter or a bit off, and removing the cartridges are a chore and a half.
Having said that and having spent half the review bitching about the console’s flaws, the Factor 5 is a good purchase if you can find it real cheap and it’s enough to hold you over until you can find good working hardware, but if you already have an NES clone, a 2-in-1 system like the Twin or Duo, or even a genuine NES system that still works, then you don’t need this… unless you REALLY want the bonus cartridge and hope you get a copy that actually works.
So I am currently working to restore the 2003 Bite commentaries to the archive and I came across this tidbit from the January 15th, 2003 edition of the Bite.
I’ve purchased the March 2003 issue of Pro Wrestling Illustrated. One particular piece in it is called Talkin’ Trash. Supposedly, they take the ten most talked-about things in wrestling and sum up their gut reaction. For the first time ever, I’ll put three of those topics here and follow it up with my own brief comment.
VINCE MCMAHON MENTIONS POSSIBILITY OF BRINGING BACK ECW
PWI states: Yeah, that’s exactly what we need, a third half-assed brand under the WWE banner.
Dave Says: If Vince McMahon mentions a possibility of bringing back ECW, there’s an even better possibility he’s full of shit. Remember all that talk about bringing back WCW in June 2001 before the Invasion crap?
Five years later and what do we have? A half-assed brand under the WWE banner that happens to bare the ECW initials but has nothing to do with the original ECW product, thus not bringing back anything and proving that Vince was indeed full of shit.
Bow, puny fools. Bow before me… and PWI.
(2024 Update: To be fair, the fact that ECW turned out to be less of a revival of the “original” ECW and more of a reskinned bottom-tier WWE show shouldn’t have been much of a surprise to anyone with even a quarter-functioning brain who has followed WWE on and off air for ages. Neither the Apter mags nor the Meltzer rags were required to make this prediction in the first place.)
So I was able to snag one of these beauties at the best buy for pretty cheap. It’s basically the smallest Game Boy Advance that fits into your pocket much more easily than the old Game Boy Pocket could. And I gotta tell you; for a portable unit this size, it’s surprisingly comfortable. If a bus trip lasted an hour and this was all I had to amuse myself, I’d have a comfortable time doing it. And it even came with two extra faceplates for that bit of customization.
There are drawbacks to the system; its size might be a detriment to bigger hands, it doesn’t play older Game Boy or Game Boy Color games, and chances are some of your old peripherals might not work with this. On the flip side, the screen has several levels of brightness, good battery life, and

Another old image. This is a slightly modified version of a T-Shirt design sold by Wil Wheaton’s website. When I saw the original, a light bulb lit up and this was the result. Unsure if the original shirt still exists…
Magical stardust and the like. Welcome to the Bite. Aside from some minor blog reposts, I also got some stuff to mention, such as noteworthy additions to my gaming collection (which currently has a count of 260 entries – a modest number to say the least).

Two things I haven’t done in a while: PPV Predictions and detailed PPV predictions… well, as detailed as you can get from me, anyway. So this is the second edition of WWE One Night Stand, which initially began as an ECW reunion show (the original ECW, not the crap that’s on TV now) and quickly shifted into WCW Uncensored with a fancier name. Longtime fans may know what I’m talking about with that kind of reference, but for those who weren’t around during the glory era of the Monday Night Wars, let’s just say the concept of an all-gimmick PPV isn’t a WWE original idea in any way, shape, or form – though I doubt it was WCW’s original idea either, but I digress. So with fancy intro out of the way, let’s begin the shuffling.
(2019 Update: Updated to include my thoughts following the show posted a couple days later.)

Not so much to note on for last night’s RAW because I didn’t see everything. And the reason I didn’t see everything is because I was busy playing Mega Man X. You know, the original game for SNES. Before the Mega Man games started to SUCK.
But I digress. Let’s get to the three segments of RAW I did watch (the latter half mostly).
– Ken Kennedy defeated General Manager King William Regal The Third to fire Regal in what I thought was a perfectly good match. Mind you, it wasn’t one of their best matches, but it wasn’t boring and it certainly wasn’t filled with much silliness (except for that bit towards the end there).
– The Piper’s Pit segment hosted by Santino was fairly decent. I like Santino because he’s funny. What I don’t like is Santino being involved with a match with Jimmy Kimmel’s Cousin Sal. Who the fuck is Cousin Sal? (Sorry, I don’t watch that much Jimmy Kimmel).
– Randy Orton and JBL defeat HHH and John Cena to decide the stipulations for their respective One Night Stand rematches. Okay, how many times do we have to get hammered with Orton/HHH bouts on PPV? It’s bad enough we had to put up with it in 2004/2005, but enough is enough already. Those matches sucked ass then and they suck ass now. There isn’t anything they could do that we haven’t seen before. As for Cena/JBL, nothing they do will top their Judgment Day 2005 I Quit match in my mind… in fact, nothing Cena’s done since then has been able to top that.
That’s it for me.
