The latest Youtube Post…

“Hello there… a quick update of sorts…
Assuming nothing else comes up, I should be heading home sometime this week.
I’m still on the mend and it’ll be a while before things get up and running ’round these parts…
But the worst has come and gone… now begins the healing process.
Will update soon…
Later…”

Yeah, so… a rather uneventful weekend… a few check-ups, a few blood tests, but if nothing else, I’ll be treated externally and should be headed home some time this week.

Someone figured that I wasn’t eating their veg and maybe I shouldn’t be sticking around… can’t say I blame them.

I’ll be perfectly fair here; the staff at the hospital has been nothing but pleasant. Sometimes, they get a bad rap because of a piss-poor excuse for a public health system and yeah, I may have been a bit… reactive in a prior post… but they’ve kept good care of me both physically and mentally, they’ve been largely friendly and helpful, largely complementary, and while I might not always be the easiest patient to deal with, I will never find myself at a point where I would slag on the people working here for being uncaring pricks. They just work for a system that is largely run by uncaring pricks.

Someone At TNA Is Smart…

Source: https://itrwrestling.com/news/nixed-wwe-plans-for-joe-hendry-revealed/

Apparently, TNA World Champion Joe Hendry was supposed to appear on WWE television so he could feud with THE MIZ and then take a pinfall loss… and then someone at TNA (someone named Ariel Shnerner) said no because they didn’t want their reigning WORLD CHAMPION to lose to THE MIZ.

That TNA executive deserves a raise for protecting the integrity of their World title.

Hey, remember when WWF-contracted wrestler TAZZZ defeated WCW-contracted wrestler Mike Awesome for the ECW World title at a random ECW house show and then appeared on Smackdown as the ECW World Champion where he took a pinfall loss to Triple H? Because Pepperidge Farm sure as shit does.

And look, I’m sure Joe would have been happy with the added exposure of being on MONDAY NIGHT RAW with the TNA World Title on his shoulder… but even he would have to balk at sacrificing the integrity of that title (for whatever that’s worth these days) to show up on RAW and lose to THE MIZ.

It only goes to show that even in the much-ballyhooed Paul Levesque era that you all worship on a pedestal, there comes the occasional dumbass attack that produces stupid ideas like this.

Some Neanderthal Way

The new teaser for the upcoming third season of Strange New Worlds… doesn’t inspire much confidence, as it continues to dive into weird genre-bending episodes that seem more the cast and crew having fun doing whatever than doing anything worthwhile and resembling good old fashioned classic Star Trek.

Yes, the Original Series had episodes that the crew visit alien worlds modeled after 1930s Chicago, Nazi Germany, and the Roman Empire, but those episodes happened because the costumes were available and thus those episodes cost less money to make. Once we got to the later spin-offs, episodes of these kinds were the rare breed to break away from the norm.

When you only have a ten-episode run and every episode is some wacky gimmick episode, it feels less like a consistent series of standalone episodes and more like an anthology series of sorts that happen to feature the same cast of characters. It’s too bad that they decided to go this route, because I thought the first season of Strange New Worlds was one of the better live-action seasons of Star Trek to come out of this uneven Kurtzman era, but once the second season decided that we’re gonna do gimmicks galore, that’s where it lost me.

It also bring pause to the casting of Paul Wesley as Jim Kirk as he’s sharing a drink with the much younger looking Scotty as played by Martin Quinn (or vice versa – since Scott is actually supposed to be OLDER than Kirk by a few years.)

I’m hoping that I’m wrong and this season turns out to be quality. For what it’s worth, my older brother – who has been into Trek almost all his life – is more excited for this direction than I am, so I’m willing to at least give this thing a shot. I just don’t want what was a promising show degrade into pointless schlock. I mean, don’t get me wrong. I like schlock. But I also like Star Trek. And I can really use more Star Trek right about now.

Hospite Stay 3

I missed a day of posts… I’m sorry.

I’m still in the hospital… they moved me to residence, which means that the danger has largely passed… now comes the process of recovery and… learning to be patient…

That last part has always been the killer for me.

I’ve never been one for patience. It’s something that I tried to have, but it ends up going nowhere. People joke about that Captain America clip from the post-credits of that Spider-Man, about how patience could lead to very little and seems like it’s not worth it… and then you wonder why you’ve waited so long for something so disappointing.

This hits a bit different now… because that’s the feeling I’m having right now.

It’s difficult to take things slow. It’s difficult to just stay in one place and just be calm. It’s difficult to just stay in one place. I try to keep my mind occupied. I’m writing posts for future entries. I’m brushing up on reviews for future videos. I’m doing some work on the blog since I’ve got a laptop. I occasionally open up Super Tetris and play a few rounds of that because I had the foresight to install the DOS version on this Thinkpad thing that somehow hasn’t blown up in my face. I’m putting my mind on getting some stuff done just take my mind off my current situation.

Sometimes, it works.

Sometimes, it doesn’t.

A day at a time… that’s what they tell me.

That’s what I keep telling myself.

Take it slow.

That’s what I need to do right now.

And that’s the problem.

We’ll see about posting something more pleasant tomorrow.

Right now?

I’m just not feeling it.

Later.

“Family Friendly Turned Antagonist” Says Whovian Person

Source: https://www.doctorwhotv.co.uk/doctor-who-antagonistic-103806.htm

I came across this fan opinion piece regarding the recent Who offering and I’ve little to say on the matter, but it makes for an interesting read if nothing else.

I will say that the site’s Dr.Who joke for April Fools is actually intriguing and is a shame that it’s only a harmless April Fools’ prank.

Doug Bowser Is NOT 2025’s Don Mattrick

In a recent interview, Nintendo Of America president Doug Bowser mentioned that some people may not be able to afford the higher priced Switch 2 console, while emphasizing that the remaining Switch consoles were available and would be supported with additional content. A lot of people saw that comment and compared to a comment that former Microsoft Entertainment head honcho Don Mattrix said in regards to Xbox One and Xbox 360.

The quote in question?

“Some of the advantages that you get, of having, a box that is designed to use an online state, so, that, uh, to me is the future-proof choice, and I think people, could’ve arguably gone the other way if we didn’t do it and fortunately we have a product for people who aren’t able to get some form of connectivity, it’s called Xbox 360.”

For those needing context, Xbox One was originally going to have an always online component, which essential meant that the console needed to be connected to the Internet in order to do anything from playing games to picking the color of your nasal spray. People complained about the always online aspect and Mattrick’s response was “get a 360 if you don’t have always online.” Naturally, people cried fouled and Xbox One eventually removed the “always online” requirement.

Doug Bowser’s comment about the old Switch being available for those who can’t afford a Switch 2 isn’t quite the same thing. Switch 2 has a higher price point due to its higher specs, but if you can’t afford the newer system, the older system (as well as its Lite and OLED variants) are still available for more affordable prices. So if you can’t afford the Switch console that lets you play Breath Of The Wild with the Zelda Notes mobile app, you can still buy the old Switch console that plays that game just fine. And it’s not like Switch is being completely tossed aside; they’re still supporting the system with software, some of which will probably also feature Switch 2 versions with added features… like SAMUS NOTES on your Alarmo clock thing.

There are some issues with this Switch 2 launch that raises questions and cries some fouls, but comparing to Xbox One’s total dumpster fire pre-launch – which was overhauled by the time they did launch. Look at the bright side – at least Nintendo isn’t FORCING you to hook up a spy camera to your Switch 2.

Unless the tariffs come into play again.

AEW WrestleDream 2024

It’s AEW WrestleDream 2024 – the show where Bryan Danielson’s full-time career came to an end.

A bit of disclosure here: I had already watched the show earlier this year and had this whole thing written up. The idea was to post it in between the 2015 and 2025 Royal Ramble posts, since I wasn’t planning on watching the Genesis PPV from TNA due to the whole deal there, but then I ended up watching the Genesis PPV where the right guy won and so this ended up in the backburner while that Genesis show got the spotlight.

And so here we are at WrestleDream, which is our last AEW PPV for a while. Next week, we’ll probably do another TNA PPV or something.

Posted this on the Youtube page:

“Hello there.

Writing this post from a hospital bed due to some health concerns becoming… well, more of a concern to the point where it can be a danger. At the moment, I’m getting treated. I’m doing some tests. I might need some work done. I don’t know how long I’m going to be MIA, but I’m hoping that things will work out for the best.

In the meantime, I’ve got a laptop that I can use to whip some stuff together. Obviously no new videos for the moment because it’s a crappy Thinkpad I bought off Amazon that’s about to be unsupported, but I can put together some notes for future stuff that I can put together once I get home. Hopefully, I’ll come out of this better than ever and we can continue this thing where we left off… as soon as I figure out where we left off.

I’ll see about doing more of these posts along the way, though if not, I’ll see about putting up something to tell the whole story of sorts. But I’ll leave you with some wisdom; if something doesn’t feel right, get it checked out before it’s too late. I’ve learned that lesson the hard way.

Until next time, take care, be safe, and good night.

Regards,
Dave (DTM)”

So here’s the blog-exclusive stuff;

After a rough night of no sleep, I’ve got a couple tests done, I’ve got a few treatments to keep things going, blood tests have been going well, I’ve been fed, I’ve ordered a bunch of stuff off Amazon for a family member who needed stuff as well as a couple things for myself, and also, as mentioned in the bit above, been putting together some stuff for upcoming videos as well as stuff for the blog.

Obviously, considering there’s been some stuff about Switch 2 being posted, my spirits have gotten a bit higher than they were the first day. Like I said, I’m not one who takes this sort of thing with any sort of good spirits. I can be a miserable asshole at the worst of times and this was, indeed, the worst of times. Fortunately, my sour mood has mostly been directed at people I know rather than the hospital staff, who have been nothing but helpful in making me feel like… I’m not actually miserable.

Except for the doctors who come by and tell you the bad news… that’s when I start getting stressed out and then they wonder why my heart rate starts jumping up… probably because these assholes are giving me news that I’m not going to react positively to. Sometimes, it doesn’t take much to figure out.

Anyway, the mend continues… we’ll see how things turn out.

In the meantime… take care.
