On All Hallow’s Eve… I Still Haven’t Watched Section 31.

It is October 31st of the year 2025… and it’s time for the semi-monthly declaration that I have NOT watched the Section 31 streaming video motion picture film starring Academy Award Winner Michelle Yeoh… because a buddy of mine who occasionally offers gag gifts for my birthday – which would have been the perfect time to strike with a disc copy of said movie – opted instead to give me a DVD set of the original TMNT cartoon.

If he had sent Section 31, you would probably be reading my thoughts on said film. But he didn’t. So you’re not. And so the tradition continues… such as it is.

In the meantime, however, if the current Trek television product isn’t getting you excited, might I suggest you redirect your forward sensors towards IDW’s comic output? They recently put out the first issue of their new series, Star Trek: The Last Starship, and it’s actually quite the hard sell for its overall concept that has me genuinely excited for new Trek. Also worthy of mention is their Red Shirts miniseries, which has been tremendous fun.

Maybe some day, I’ll give these further shine – and maybe talk up more of that Khan show, which I need to catch up on – but it goes to show that you don’t necessarily need Star Trek on screen to find good quality stories. As long as there’s enough quality material to dive into, I am more than content in putting off… what were we talking about again?

For the record, I have yet to open that TMNT DVD set… I’m almost afraid to revisit it.

Review #1249 – Chronicles Of The Wolf (Switch)

In any reality other than the one depicted in this game, the French would have surrendered ages ago. Yes, I’m still making these jokes in 2025. And yes, they’re still relevant.

On a side note, I recently discovered that the people behind this game also made that Wallachia: Reign Of Dracula game I picked up ages ago. I considered giving that go for the week, but decided I needed more time than I already had, so I’m saving it for another time. Maybe next year, I guess…

So yeah, it’s a day late, so I’m not making you wait until 12:30 p.m. You can have this early.

Gordo, on the other hand, demands that you wait.

WCW Monday Nitro (Oct. 30th, 1995) – Post Mortem

It’s the Halloween Havoc post-show… we apparently have a new WCW World Champion in the Giant… Jimmy Hart has turned on Hulk Hogan… Lex Luger has turned on Macho Man… Ric Flair has turned on Sting… that must have been a very exciting show, I wonder if I had seen it.

Oh…

Anyway, on with Nitro.

The Wolf Fled And I Had To Catch It…

Yeah, so a last minute medical appointment (nothing serious – just an intravenous injection of fluid after work that lasted a couple hours) has prevented me from uploading today’s scheduled video. Good news is that it’ll be up tomorrow (maybe later than usual) and then Friday is the one people actually care about.

Long story short, the treatment that was supposed to be treating my bowels didn’t exactly get the job done, so I got an emergency infusion of stuff. For what it’s worth, I feel fine. I still have bouts of pain, but my stools have been fairly solid and trips to the john have been less frequent compared to earlier in the year. It’s just something in the internals that the medical professionals didn’t think was progressing as far as it should.

Joy.

Sorry for the morbid details, but this is serious business that is treated seriously and morbid details are what you’re getting. When I get this video crap out of the way, we’ll find some funny way of digesting this information… or you could just watch whatever AVGN thing is out right now.

He still makes those, doesn’t he?

New Spooky Upload Time And Extra Bits

Hey, folks… we were going to do a Spooky Week of video entertainment, but sadly… health issues arose.

Good news is that I’m fine. Bad news is that this big ambitious plan to do a whole week worth of videos is out the window, which basically boils down to some of these things needing more week and I really don’t feel like rushing through what are supposed to be some pretty major videos. So we’re going to scale back things.

Those Castlevania DS videos? They’re being pushed back to December. If you’re really desperate for your Dominus fix, Uncle Johnny is there to hold you folks over until I can get these babies ready on my end. Point being that I’d rather hold this off and spend a little more time making these things look beautiful and wonderful than rush them out and have them look like shit. Especially when there’s very specific bits that I want to highlight.

However, nobody who watches this stuff cares about that. They just want the one with Chef. That hits on Halloween.

After that, it’s Atari month in November because I want to put out shit that’s nice and quick while I work on the bigger stuff for later down the road. Not quite sure what December is going to look like, but it’s also going to be a bit different.

On the bright side, Sunday Gimmick Tables will return starting next Sunday. I’ve had to shuffle some videos around because some stuff isn’t ready, but there’s enough to work with for the next few weeks, at least. I’ve been experimenting with some methods in regards to DVD rips brought up to a respectable HD level. Won’t use these for review purposes, but they might be useful for the Gimmick Tables. We’ll see how that goes.

I wish I had better news for you and I’m sorry that yet another plan is foiled by bowel pains… but I’m hoping things will be less turbulent going forward… would be nice.

Try Again In Twenty Years

So in 1982, Disney put out a movie called TRON. Apparently, people liked it and it made some money, but not enough to warrant a follow-up. I only vaguely remember the movie myself – the special effects are something to admire for its day, but that’s about all it had going for it. Most of my association with TRON was through that one Deadly Discs game on Atari… and a couple others along the way.

Then in 2010 – almost THREE DECADES later – Disney puts out TRON: Legacy, a sequel to the original film that I actually liked better than the first movie. Like the first movie, people seemed to like this one and it made some money… and we even got a short-lived animated series out of it, but not enough to make a new movie out of the gate.

And so here we are again with TRON Ares; a drastic departure from what came before with Jared Leto in the lead and virtually nothing to connect to the previous films beyond a few special effects, a few familiar names, and a token Jeff Bridges cameo. Reaction to this film was a little more mixed and – say it with me – it’s not making enough money to justify an immediate follow-up any time soon.

But then again, this is the new Disney. They’ll milk properties until they’re dry and then continue to beat that dead horse even long after the rot and decay has set in. I wouldn’t be surprised if this TRON is what gets a follow-up in a year or two, but otherwise… I guess we’ll try this shit again in 2048 or something, I don’t know.
