Is this the end of the current era of Trek? The news of the sets being dismantled and pieces of it being auctioned off seems t0 indicate that to be the case. Unless they’re planning on using the space for another Trek-related piece of business, which I doubt because nothing has been formally announced on that front…
I don’t know what to feel. There’s a part of me that wants to feel sad about the lack of Trek product on television and certainly, I feel bad for the folks who had been working on these sets since the Discovery days and wish them all the best in their future endeavors. Another part of me feels ambivalent, considering how ho-hum this current era of Trek television has been personally. It’s not something that I feel like I’m going to miss or regret its lost; it’s more like something that happened, I’m going to forget about it, and move on to other things. There isn’t that fondness here that I have for the old shows.
I only speak for myself in that regard. Clearly, there’s going to be a generation of fans who do have a fondness for this brand of Trek that is going to lament its ending, if that’s what this is. For now, we can only wait and see what the future holds for Star Trek… but if you live in the Ontario province and have plenty of disposable income, here’s your chance to own a piece of Trek. I guess…
