Five episodes into Nitro… and we’re still watching this somehow… honestly, this hasn’t been that bad of a show. Sure, a couple times have been slow, but it hasn’t gotten to the point where I want to quit. The promos, if nothing else, have been fun.
This, however, was a good show and it begins with…
Lex Luger defeating Randy Savage with an assist from a Giant CHOKESLAM on Savage to keep his job, since the stipulation for this match was that if Luger had lost, he’d be gone from WCW… which would have sucked for Luger after the way he dropped WWF like a bad habit. Surprisingly, this got a bit of time. Probably eight to ten minutes or something. This is followed by another five minute match that sees Eddie Guerrero pinning Dean Malenko after a reversed roll-up attempt, after which Malenko demands a rematch, to which Eddie accepts. They had fun matches in ECW if you can find those somewhere. It’s probably on one of the ECW DVDs that WWE put out decades ago.
So after the usual Hogan promo, he goes out and high fives some fans, only to get attacked by a woman with some powder… except THAT’S NO WOMAN, says Bobby Heenan, proving to be the smartest man in WCW circa 1995, but rather it’s Kevin Sullivan in drag, except unlike Ric Flair’s attempt in drag earlier in the year, this actually accomplishes something, as Giant comes out, rips off Hogan’s neck collar, and does the neck twist thing that’s supposed to be this devastating maneuver and I’m like… eh. Adding insult to injury, Sullivan produces some clippers and starts shaving off Hogan’s mustache, which the announcers try to sell as a big deal until we get to this shot and…

You know… I had a idea for a slightly tweaked gag image, but out of respect for the dead, I won’t go along with it. Besides, I think you can fill in the blanks in your mind.
Oh, and Ric Flair defeated Arn Anderson via DQ after Brian Pillman splashes Flair while he has Arn trapped in the figure four to cap off what may very well the best Nitro episode to date. There were a couple matches, but they had time, they had stakes or progression, and also…

Yes.
