Last Weekend Enforced My Lack Of Faith In Humanity

I very rarely lean into real world, serious stuff, but I figured that I’d chime in a quick thought on what happened this past weekend involving Donald Trump. I assume you know the details by now, so I won’t repeat that here. I do wish to offer my prayers and best wishes to the families of the one attendee who was killed and two others who were injured.

As most are aware, I’ve dropped my Twitter account long ago, but a friend of mine keeps me apprised of happenings on there whenever I inquire about that stuff. I’ll gladly have a middle person do the gruntwork so that I don’t have to. Right now, chatter has talks of civil war because this was apparently a hit job ordered by the government. Which is funny because it seems like the right seems much more eager to take up arms than the other folks. We discuss the chatter and I express my utter dismay at the continued stupidity of humanity as a whole, who seem to want any excuse to take arms and blow themselves to kingdom come. Right now, we don’t know what the motive is nor do we know if there is any higher power. Yes, you can make the argument that it was someone on the payroll who was given the order to off Trump, but – and I’ll offer this nugget for those who are into conspiracies and I don’t particularly believe this to be outside the realm of possibility, either – someone on the “right” side of things was probably itching for any excuse to escalate things and decided to take matters into their own hands. Fire the first shot in hopes of pushing things forward.

A bit outlandish? Perhaps, but reality is often stranger than fiction and you know what they say about life imitating art.

Here’s the reality; I’m not thrilled that something like this happened. No one with a modicum of common sense or functioning brain matter should want this. Regardless of how you feel about Donald Trump – and I’ve never cared for the guy long before his political aspirations came to fruition – the guy didn’t deserve to be shot at a rally, nor do anyone deserve to get killed or severely injured for supporting someone they believe it. The fact that we’re still resorting to this sort of petty bullshit behavior only serves to re-affirm my utter lack of faith in humanity.

Fortunately, despite a gash on his ear, Trump was able to come out of that alive. He even went so far to face the hard cam and give a little fistbump to pop the crowd a bit; even I have to admire the man’s desire to keep up a brave face, even if I’m not a fan of most everything else about him.

So… yeah. Last weekend was kind of shit for humanity.

Do better.

Later.
