Impact (April 4th, 2024) – The Generational Clash That Actually Happened…

Good news, everyone. Cody Rhodes finally finished his fucking story.

What does this have to do with TNA? Absolutely nothing… but I understand they also have a guy named Cody under contract. Maybe we can convince him to finish his story… whatever that ends up being.

Sadly, that’s not what happened… wait, did I actually want Cody Deaner to finish his story? Can we drop this “finish the story” thing and move on to something? How about we talk about “the new era” or something? No? Okay, then, never mind.

Anyhoo… this episode of Impact was a one-match show for me and really, the match that could be considered one of those matches you thought would never happen, but here it is and in living color. The main event match between Nic Nemeth and Alex Shelley – the Generational Clash, as it’s been advertised – was such a wonderful piece of business. Nemeth ended up winning the match after almost twenty-five minutes of hard-hitting action, but felt like it could have gone either way and it would’ve been fine. I haven’t been keeping up with the news all that much, but if the MCMGs are on their way out, they’re going out in style and in the best way possible.

Meanwhile, Mustafa Ali defeated Rhino in the opening match – not quite as good as the main event, but still a fun piece of business to further the Ali/Something title feud. Ash By Elegance got a cheap win over Xia Brookside in a match that came about due to a bit of a spat last week that saw Xia bump into Ash, who was in the crowd nursing a toothache. Well, that’s not very nice.

Some other stuff happened… none of it stuck to mind, but the stuff that did was great, so I’d call this show a success on that count.
