Could it be? Another weekly IMPACT musings?!
Why, yes… yes, it can…
This show is easy to watch, you’ll get a couple decent matches out of it, and for what it’s worth, the few little angles that they’ve got going on here and there aren’t that difficult to follow. I will admit that the shows have settled into a groove and probably won’t hit the heights experienced with that initial outing, but hey, so long as the shows are entertaining enough and fly by quickly, I’m more than content with that.
It occurred to me that this is the third Impact musings I’ve done this year and not once have I mentioned Mustafa Ali, who is gunning for Chris Sabin’s X-Division title. First off, I’m amazed that he got to keep Mustafa Ali as a name, but secondly, him bouncing around in the X-Division for a bit seems like a good fit for him. I even like his overall presentation for these videos that he’s been putting out. Adds a bit to his character. Curious to see how this plays out.
Nic Nemeth gets another match under his belt and thus another win over Trey Miguel, a TNA guy whose name I do know, at least. All of this is building Nemeth for a match with Steve MacClin at the upcoming No Surrender special, which isn’t a PPV, but something exclusive to the TNA+ streaming service. Not signing up for that any time soon – the scars of NWA-TNA are still deeply felt – but maybe somewhere down the line when I have nothing else to touch on for the eventual return of the PPV Musings. Given recent events on the WWE side of things not involving creative, I’d very much like to venture outside that particular toybox for my wrestling offerings.
Another thing that I haven’t mentioned are the promo videos hyping up Ash By Elegance, who happens to be the former Dana Brooke… well, that’s certainly a shift in character that I wasn’t expecting. Not sure if I’m entirely sold on the concept, but at least, she’s trying something different and if this works out, more power to her.
Not much else to say about this show; Alex Shelley wants a rematch against Moose to regain his World title, PCO kills another dude and then some other dude kills him, Grizzled Young Vets defeat another TNA tag-team that somehow DOESN’T break up – there goes that gimmick… and there was a Masha Slamovich/Jody Threat match that was alright, but mostly served to build towards a future tag title bout.
Nothing amazing about this show, but stuff moved forward and makes you want to tune in next time. Mission accomplished. See you next Monday.
Postscript
Something worth mentioning is that they did air a clip regarding Jordynne Grace’s surprise appearance at the Royal Rumble. It’s a brief piece and there’s even a couple WWE bits showing the appearance, which is rather big of them. It’s a fluff piece at most, but still nice to showcase a big moment in Grace’s career.
