WWE Clash Of Champions 2019

So, in an effort to try and get some sleep, I watched the last WWE PPV and fell asleep right after the Women’s tag-title match… so that clearly got the job done. For the most part, the show was boring and sleep-inducing; hence why I preferred to talk about an old WCW PPV that was terrible for my Wednesday PPV musings over a WWE PPV that was boring. Not because it was better, but because the WWE write-up would’ve been  several lines of  “So-so beat so-so in a match to retain or win some title. Boring.”

Oh… so you want me to go through that? Okay…

Dolph Ziggler & Robert Roode defeated RAW Tag Champions Seth Rollins and Braun Strowman to win the titles. Crowd didn’t care. Neither did I. Boring.

Smackdown Women’s Champion Bayley defeated Charlotte Flair via Baby Flair running into exposed turnbuckle to retain the title. Short, boring match that saw Baby Flair dominate until the fluke finish. Boring.

The Revival defeated Smackdown Tag Champs The New Day via submission to win the titles. Again, crowd didn’t care. Neither did I. Boring.

Are we having fun yet, boys and girls?

Women’s Tag-Team champions Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross defeated Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville to retain the titles. Another boring match and this is where I fell asleep… fortunately, for your sake, I remembered to watch the rest of the show… presumably because I needed something stronger to put me out.

Intercontinental Champion Shinsuke Nakamura defeated The Miz to retain the title. Hey, the crowd woke up for this one, at least… but yeah, this was another boring match.

Sasha Banks defeated RAW Women’s Champion Becky Lynch via DQ when Becky hit the ref early in the match and then someone remembered that she hit the ref later on and decided to DQ her. Becky retained the title. Match was boring. Finish was fucking stupid.

WWE Champion Kofi Kingston defeated Randy Orton in yet another boring match to retain the title. You’d think of all the matches, this would’ve been the hot one given the history between the two, but… nope. This one was dull as shit, too.

Erick Rowan defeated Roman Reigns with an assist from Luke Harper in a boring No-DQ match. I don’t know how you could make a match with two big guys beating the shit out of each other boring, but lo and behold, WWE found a way. Truly geniuses in the creative circle.

Red Toy Belt champion Seth Rollins defeated Braun Strowman to retain the title via what seemed like a billion curb stomps to put down Strowman and people are just shitting on the poor guy. Maybe get a new finish, Seth… and I mean “new” finish, not steal McSon-In-Law’s finish. And after the match, Seth is assaulted by The Fiend… so I guess that’s going to be the next feud because people seem to like this new Bray Wyatt gimmick and everyone wants to put the title on him… I hope they don’t. The guy doesn’t really need it… but yeah… this match was… a thing that happened. Probably the best thing on the show until the finish, but… yeah, just boring.

And you know, it’s not that the matches were bad or anything; mostly boring. The Sasha/Becky match was pretty much the only match I saw that was close to entertaining before the shitty phantom DQ finish where they tell us Becky is DQ and stuff… the rest of the show was just boring as shit. I mean, when the guy who was champion and made everyone happy he won at Mania is trying to get a crowd going for an eternity and the crowd is either apathetic or reacting outright negatively, it’s a sad sight. Hence, no musings.

Oh well… better luck next time, I suppose. I’m actually quite looking forward to the FIX debut of  Smackdown because that could potentially be an interesting trainwreck if nothing else. I would like to look forward to AEW television as well, but the Canadian rights haven’t been brought up yet, so that’s off the table for now

Speaking of AEW, I’ve been able to watch some of the All Out show thanks to a friend. Guess where we’re going this Wednesday…
