From the venerable genius at cracked.com comes six reasons the guy who you hired to fix your computer hates you. The truly sad thing is that, as funny as this might seem, some of it is actually true.
I took a course in desktop publishing once upon a time and one of the things they teach you is how your computer works and how you can fix it whenever a problem comes up. This was emmencely useful for me because I use a computer a lot and being able to fix these things myself rather than rely on someone else to do it is extremely helpful.
The side effect is that sometimes, I get calls to go over to someone’s house and fix their computers and it’s usually for really minor stuff. Sometimes, it’s to re-install Windows and other stuff like that. But more than anything, the one thing they often say beforehand is that their computer is running slow. Why is their computer running slow?
And so I help with their computer woes… and then two months later, I have to do it again… and this is why I no longer want to fix computers. Not even my own.
