For anyone wondering why I didn’t post about SNME, it’s because I didn’t see the whole thing. Just about the only thing I saw was the “boxing” match. The less said the better. However, from what I understand, a lot of people believed it to one of the better entries since its revival last year, so that has to be worth something I suppose.
I don’t know if anyone knows about this, but TNA released an online video of what they call a “Kurt Angle Action Short” that features the former WWE Champion returning to Connecticut and beating up some bar patrons. I’ve seen the clip, it’s somewhat amusing, and then you wonder if that same sort of quality is going to shine on their wrestling show, which has been somewhat spotty.
According to PWPIX.NET:
In what they are claiming is a cost-cutting measure, WWE is apparently no longer going to be putting name plates on the championship belts.
Yes, because making individual name-plates are syphoning the company’s budget. Personally, I feel they could cut out most of the dead weight, but whatever. In any case, the lack of name-plates won’t be much of a loss in the long run since the company had been doing fine without them before 2002 when they first adopted the plates. So, for anyone in line to get custom championship belts, go while they’re hot.
(2019 Update: Custom name plates are not only still a thing, but they now have custom side plates! Amazing!)
Wrestling sites and comic sites have been reporting that Marvel is keen on HHH assuming the lead role of Thor in the upcoming movie of the same name. Director of said flick, Matthew Vaughn, is not happy that the man of three Hs is being considered for the role. I agree with Vaughn. HHH might have the physique to pull it off, but his attempts at acting has bored the shit out of me… and that doesn’t include his appearance on the Drew Carey show. Why do you suppose his WWE Films vehicle is constantly being delayed? So the guy could show off his horrible acting skills on WWE audiences every Monday night.
(2019 Update: The role would go to Chris Hemsworth… from what I hear, he did a good job with the role.)
A recent post by former WWE guy and current TNA guy Andrew “Test” Martin saying how he enjoys getting a fresh start and agrees that talent is indeed in TNA. Of course, it’s hard to determine whether the talent he refers to is the homegrown talent of TNA or the plethora of WWE rejects that TNA is pushing to the moon at the expense of said homegrown talent.
So yeah, Testy. You don’t have to be the boss’s son in law to get anywhere; just “WWE Superstar” in your resume is more than enough to get the peons at WCW… er, I mean, TNA to give you a big push long after you bear any relevance.
I’ll be honest: I have no gripes with a guy who wants a new start. If Mr. Martin gets a good run in TNA, more power to him. It’s just frustrating to see that the company is resorting to signing former WWE guys just to pop a non-existent rating.
So good luck with your fresh new start and potential main-event push, Mr. Martin. Hope you don’t trip over a sulking homegrown talent who is more worthy of the spot than you are.
And finally, former wrestler Lance Storm has recently announced on his website that he has officially retired from active competition. Funny, I thought he already retired.
The End
