Tonight is the latest edition of WWE’s Unforgiven Pay-Per-View and you know what? This is actually shaping up to be a pretty awesome card for what is essentially a throwaway show. Even though the build to get here is practically non-existant (or if there was any, it didn’t work), the matches pretty much speak for themselves and that’s good enough for me. So let’s get this done.
UPDATED WITH RESULTS
Kane vs. Umaga
Pretty interesting match-up here. Now it’s sort of a two-way street here: if Kane wins here, he ends Umaga’s streak and gains back some of that credibility that was lost when he was involved in necrophilia angles and feuds with baby killers. And if Umaga wins… well, let’s just say he’ll be considered the baddest monster on the roster, although there have been better monsters. My best guess is that Umaga will take the duke because at this point, Kane is a lost cause and isn’t going to be making any more noise anytime soon… that is, of course, unless they need an extra guy to fill in that Elimination Chamber in January.
Result: Countout. Nobody wins… eh, not expected. 0-1
Randy Orton vs. Carlito Carribbean Cool
Carlito. Next.
Result: Orton. Next. 0-2
World Tag-Team Championship
Spirit Squad (c) vs. The Highlanders
My pick has to go to the team of Connor and Duncan MacLeod because they’re not only Highlanders, but they’re Immortals. No matter how much you try to do to them, they keep coming back and they lop all the Sissy Squads’ heads off, thus ending the match in 20 seconds… which breaks Chris Benoit’s record win over Orlando Jordan from last year’s PPV.
Oh wait… it’s not THOSE Highlanders we’re talking about here. It’s the Scots who act like idiots… I’m sorry but they do.
Well, my decision stands. They’ll lop those cheerleaders’ heads off.
Result: Here’s an actual surprise. The Spirit Squad actually retained. Nice. 0-3
WWE Womens’ Championship
Lita (c) vs. Trish Stratus
Tradition has it that when one has a last match, it’s always best to go out on your back (lose the match). That having been said, I believe that Trish will take the win and end her in-ring career on a high-note by becoming a 7-time champ. It’s been fun, Trish. We’ll miss you and your assets. Next.
Result: Trish wins. 1-3
D-Generation X (in more ways than one) vs. Big Slow & The McMahons
It’s a Hell-in-a-Cell match which means three things: bloody imagery, weapons popping up out of nowhere, and someone falling off the cage in spectacular fashion. Unfortunately, none of these guys look to be taking that big fall (well, except for Shane maybe). I’d personally say that the McMahons would win and this stupid feud will be over, but really, this thing ain’t going to end, so I’m choosing DX instead.
Result: DX wins. 2-3
WWE Intercontinental Championship
Johnny Nitro (c) vs. Jeff Hardy
Hardy. Next.
Result: Nitro wins. 2-4
WWE Heavyweight Championship
Edge (c) vs. John Cena
Somehow I think Cena will win. Yeah, I said that last month, but this time, I pretty sure he’ll win. It’s kind of obvious WWE has no intention of Cena moving to Smackdown so the end result is obvious. Cena wins. That’s it, that’s all.
Result: Cena wins. 3-4
All in all, a decent PPV. Good stuff outweighed the boring stuff. Later.
