Classic Bite Commentary #38 – July 14th, 2003

Good morning. Sorry I didn’t post last week’s Bite on schedule, but it’s up now. Unfortunately, you may not want to read it, so… Things have been pretty hectic this past week and thus all my plans were put in the back burner. Anyhoo…

We (family and I) were planning on spending Saturday touring the 1000 Islands, but it rained and we didn’t go. I really wanted to go. So now there’s no immediate plan to re-schedule a trip at a later date. You know something? That really pissed me off. All this time looking for directions, translating them to French so they could understand where to go, and then having to print out maps so we’d know how to stay on one stupid highway for the better part of the trip, doing all of this at the expense of getting my website in order and all that for what? All for nothing. It’s too damn bad things had to be this way… but I’m over it now. If they decide to go some other day, great. If not, well you know…

During the week, I helped out my cousin put together a little tape from his engagement party that happened about two weeks ago. After several hours of editing, the tape was ready to go; complete with intro and end shots. It almost seemed like those two shots were done off Movie Maker, but all we really used were a couple of printed sheets, a fairly advanced minicam with transitional effects, and a couple of VCRs to do the actual editing of worth footage. It came off rather nicely from what I’ve seen.

RAW from Montreal was absolutely hilarious. Not because of the matches, but because of one particular segment involving Chris Jericho and Shawn Michaels. The subject between these two: the infamous 97 Survivor Series screwjob and how us Montrealers can’t get over something that has happened some five years ago. Wow, what an amazing theory. We’re the ones who can’t seem to let this “You Screwed Bret” business go. Little ol’ Montreal can’t let go of the screwjob that nobody else in the world (except for Canada, but they don’t want us to know that).

You know what the funny thing is about the so-called infamous “Survivor Series” screwjob? Even after six years, people still bring it up. The most popular quote from Vince McMahon concerning the whole affair just happened to be “Bret screwed Bret.” It’s actually valid, because Bret had it coming.

HBK says he’s sorry things went the way they did and that fans can’t get over it. BretHart Dot Com is sorry WWE can’t get over it. I’m sorry a whole bunch of people in this country can’t seem to get over it, considering the “You Screwed Bret” chants that happen once in a while.

You can say “Get over it” or “It happened six years ago” or “No one cares anymore” or something to that degree, but no matter how much you try to get over it or forget it, it will always rear its ugly head in one form or another. Besides, we should be angry at Shawn Michaels when he once again beats Chris Jericho next week in HOLL-E-WOOD!!!

Um, right.

Smackdown was less than entertaining. You know, as much as I love to see Vince and Stephanie McMahon bicker week in and week out (sarcasm), this clusterfucking at the expense of real talent is getting out of hand. It’s getting to the point where an episode of Power Rangers Ninja Storm is actually providing me with more entertainment. And don’t get me started on both of these moronic idiots booking themselves in matches with an old hag and a one-legged wrestler, whose freakshow appeal has washed off.

I was considering releasing Plague in its rough format, then thought against it. Even in a rough format, Plague felt a little too incomplete.

Speaking of incompleteness, the Weapon has noticeably still been lacking of an update. See note above.

Evilution’s first chapter will be posted in September. Every other week will see a new episode posted. At least, that’s the routine I’m hoping for.

Well, that’s all I have. It’s not much, but then again not much happened.

LAST MINUTE: I’m browsing through the net and noticed a column on the NES turning 20. Interesting. Maybe I’ll cook up a piece tomorrow. Rather interesting piece. I’ll add a link when it’s most convenient.
