Classic Bite Commentary #35 – May 27th, 2003

Hello, folks. How’s it going? You’ve probably noticed that I removed all the 2002 commentaries from the site, including the Bite Bible. It’s a waste of space anyway – it’s not like nobody reads them anyway.

In a few weeks time, The Bite is one year old. I’m planning something special for the commentary.

Levar Burton’s READING RAINBOW children show is in financial despair. According to sources, the show may not last the summer because it has no money.

I remember watching this show when I was a kid and while it didn’t teach me the intricacies of reading for pleasure, it was still an entertaining show with Levar showing us other things, like farms and stuff. It even had a Behind-the-Scenes view of Star Trek TNG (in which Levar was also promptly featured) when it was brand spanking new.

Oh come on, you rich bastards. It’s Reading F’n Rainbow. So what if it’s twenty years old?! It’s got Geordi F’n LaForge as its host. The guy played the toughest engineer in Star Trek (hey, anybody who can take all those phaser hits and still make it through seven seasons and four movies is tough in my book.) They should probably make a movie out of this?

Okay, I’m out of my tandem. Let’s get to the commentary… sigh.

Last night’s RAW… I’ve had so much hope watching this show. Last week’s show had a good main event in Flair vs. HHH – the only time in the current timeframe that I’ll ever use GOOD MATCH and TRIPLE H on the same line – and there was something about it that said “Maybe I should watch this. It looks good.”

Last night had none of it… it was a poor excuse of a wrestling show that was obvious (French guy win flag for title shot, Flair swerves, etc). Even worse, it’s not even a good sports entertainment show. Saying that ought to hurt.

On the weekend, I watched Most Extreme Elimination Challenge on TNN, which is essentially a whacked dub of some Japanese show. I was more entertained by people falling in a mud pit than I essentially was seeing the heel Nipple H …

Did I say Nipple H? Oh sorry, I meant Triple H. Wrestlecrap is becoming an influence on me.

Is the Mr. America gimmick still going on? Yes it is. I’m not writing this based on any taping spoilers, because I generally don’t check the spoilers until Wednesday night. It’s so obvious it’s Hogan under that mask. I say, watch them pull a switch on Smackdown. Kurt Angle is gonna show up in a week’s time, but instead of making a babyface comeback and go on a good guy run, they’re probably gonna bring him back as a lousy heal to feud with Brock Lesnar.

Here’s the problem with World Wrestling Entertainment’s current wrestling product; it’s not happening for me. I really want to give them a chance to improve. I want to assure myself that the next RAW I watched was going to better than the last one. The Flair/HHH match gave me hope that maybe, just maybe, things were going in the right direction. Unfortunately, that’s not the case.

I’d like to say that we’re reliving WCW, but that would be an insult to Ted Turner.

The wrestling comments end here. Let’s begin for the first time on the Bite commentary, my sports entertainment comments.

WWE SUCKS ASS!! IT IS SUCKING IT LONG AND SUCKING IT HARD!!!

That ends the sports entertainment comments…

Will Ferrell as Alex Trebek: Do you kiss your mother with that mouth?
Darrell Hammond as Sean Connery: No, but I did something to your mother with this mouth!

Okay… the final Celebrity Jeopardy aired on SNL a couple of weeks back. I still don’t understand the Raisin Bran and the “Two Scoops of Fruit” joke. Neither does anybody else.

Recently checked out the Star Trek Nemesis DVD. I still stand by my comment that this is the better TNG film made, narrowly on par with Wrath of Khan. I still don’t understand why this movie is bashed on.

If you want a decent comedy flick with swearing, check out this movie called The Ref with Denis Leary and Kevin Spacey. It’s frickin’ hilarious.

Okay, on to some Ranger fic news.

First off, the bad news. I was going to upload the final chapter of the Weapon to finally get that piece of shit out of the way, but found out that the disk it was on was corrupted. Nooo!! As a result, it’s been delayed further. Yes, I know. But that’s the way it is. I’ll have to redo the epilogue and hopefully it’ll be up by Monday.

However, this does not deter me from starting Evilution, said fiction’s sequel. Here’s the thing, though. Significant work has been done on the later chapters of this story, but no beginning has been concocted. It will take me longer to produce a suitable beginning, but this is probably a blessing in disguise, because updates to the tale will be made faster.

As far as Plague goes, I am hoping to finish this story by Sunday. Unlike Weapon and Evilution, this is a one-shot deal and I won’t deter from that notion. I may put up a snippet or two for a preview, but that’s as far as I’ll go.

Man, oh man. I’m tired. I’m gonna sign off.

I ramble about things.

Keep your comments nice and clean and we'll be fine. Thanks.
