Classic Bite Commentary #33 – May 7th, 2003

What’s up, kids? This edition of the Bite contains WRESTLING tidbits only. If you want my thoughts on X-2 and other events, check for next Tuesday’s edition.

My cousin and I have had this great discussion on the current antics of World Wrestling Entertainment Inc. He, like myself, thought that the Backlash PPV sucked balls.

The May 5th episode of RAW was notable only for the fact that a good match was announced for Judgment Day: a battle royal for the newly-revived WWE Intercontinental Heavyweight Championship, featuring only former IC champions. Well good. It’s about time someone brought this belt out of mothballs in an attempt to build back the prestige it had lost over the years, not to mention build some kind of monetary interest in the product, which is getting staler by each day. Now people are asking, “Wasn’t Nash vs. HHH announced also as a match for the pay-per-view?” Sure, but I did say one GOOD match was announced.

The show ended with Steve Austin & Goldberg drinking beer (Molson EX, by the way!) along with a bunch of other nameless losers. If that’s the best way these guys could think of to close off RAW, then it’s time for a serious restructuring of the current product.

Consider THIS widely-known fact for one second: they hardly have enough decent crap for a SHARED event. Imagine how much crap they have to build up for their own separate-brand pay-per-view events. The way I see it, it will be difficult to run a proficient PPV with a Women’s title no one cares about, tag-team titles that are, for all intents and purposes, worthless, and an egotistical, self-centered prick who is flat-out unwilling to relinquish his spot as World champion to someone who is more deserving AND more qualified than he is.
