It’s May 2nd. It’s The Rock’s birthday, you stupid son of a bitch.
A long delay between commentaries… I apologize. I was supposed to have TWO commentaries up prior to this one, but forgot to upload them. Hey, it happens. Anyway, I uploaded one of the lost commentaries up.
Since we’re about several weeks away from the Bite’s 1st anniversary on the web, I should probably let you know that I’m going to take down the Bite Bible Volume 1 and upload the original commentaries.
Instead of talking drivel like I usually do, I’ll reference to some sites. Something different for a change. Don’t worry; drivel is near the end.
Ever wanted to learn Klingon but couldn’t find anyone geeky enough. The Klingon Language Institute is a decent site dedicated to the study of the Klingon language… obviously. These guys have even released the “restored” Klingon edition of Hamlet, because “you haven’t experienced Shakespeare until you’ve read it in the original Klingon.” Click here to go there and have some fun, you DenIb Qatlh! (If you don’t know what I just said, then you’re lo’laHbe’ghach!!)
I have downloaded an intriguing little program called MetEdit. The program is essentially a Metroid level editor that allows you to edit many aspects of the Metroid NES game. I have experimented with the editor and ran into a number of snags, but was impressed with what I am able to do thus far.
You need the Metroid ROM image to use MetEdit. I’m not gonna give neither of them to you, but you can get Metedit from this site.
While we’re talking about Metroid for NES, check this site on the supposed “Secret Worlds”. Unfortunately, Kent Hansen, the guy who created MetEdit says that there is no such thing. Still, it’s a pretty interesting read that is worth anyone’s time in searching for worthless drivel.
MR. AMERICA IS HERE! MR. AMERICA WILL SAVE US ALL!!! Oh wait, it’s only Hulk Hogan in a stupid mask. Go figure. Anyway, just to spite him, here’s one of the better Hogan sites on the net. Featuring pictures, articles, and a couple of old matches. Check it out, you filthy gagh!
Here’s some Games Factory (!) tales I’d like to share:
I had Ralph (a fellow TGFer) play test my Castlevania game (CVDTM Redux) and he said that it plays better and looks cleaner than the first version I did. Whether he was honest or worried that I’d kill him, I’ll never know. It’s the first time I’ve opened up the TGF file in quite some time and I hope to (finally) get it out of the way.
If you wondering about how far the game is close to completion, I can tell you with absolute certainty that I have no fucking clue. In retrospect, I have about two more levels to finish off, and then I have to play each level and search for any inconsistencies. I want Redux to be the ONLY version I have to upload and not like DTM2 where I have to upload for every little bug that was noticed AFTER.
The Castlevania DTM Duology (consisting of the old DTM1 and DTM2) was available on Kazaa. I remember 4 people downloading the game just out of curiosity. Hey, four people is better than nothing. So chances are Redux will be available either on Kazaa, on the Net, or through the Yahoo briefcase.
I’ve given Ralph my blessing to redo DTM2, the sucky sequel that felt more like a rush job, mostly because it WAS a rush-job! Ha! If more gaming companies were THIS honest about their reasoning for releasing crappy games, we would’ve been better off. As payment for his playtesting, I tried out his remake and was impressed. Most of the fuck-ups I did were removed and Ralph managed to add a couple levels of his own into it. I’ll have most of the details on both our redos in the next commentary, along with a couple of screenshots to boot.
The other game that I had worked with Don, Shadow of Darkness, has been in limbo for quite some time. I doubt we’ll get around to working on it. I’m hoping, with his consent, to prep up a playable demo so that people could what might have been. All things considered, the game was going real bad anyway, so I’m glad we dumped the project.
And yes, I still used good ol’ TGF. Until I have cash and patience for Multimedia Fusion or some other similar program…
In any case, I am hoping to upload the final chapter of the Weapon, work on Plague, and get started on the next Power Rangers fic… oh yeah, and a couple of comic reviews… until then.
