Welcome to another Bite commentary. Half of this commentary is wrestling and the other half are brief notes on other stuff going on. I’ll probably do another update on Sunday.
As expected, WWE signed Goldberg. As expected, Goldberg appears on RAW. As expected, Goldberg doesn’t make much of an impact in the ratings. Despite Goldberg gracing us with his presence for over a minute, Rock Appreciation Night, Stone-Cold getting “fired” and the fact that it is the RAW after a surprisingly well-done ‘Mania 19, all those volatile elements weren’t enough to bring in a decent amount of viewership. Chances are most of the viewership came from Smackdown, but who knows?
Apparently Kurt Angle found a doctor that may be able to reduce his rehab time from the usual one year to about six weeks. This doctor supposedly worked on Scott Hall. Okay, presuming Angle does come back in six weeks time, does this mean he’ll change his name to Kurt Angahol (pronounced an-guh-hall)? In any case, he and Brock put a good show. However, the screwed-up Shooting Brock Press (© 2003 Scott Keith all rights reserved) has me wondering if his neck is in one piece.
This past week (whether I mentioned it in the other Bites or not) I’ve purchased No Holds Barred (a Hogan crap movie) and the first WW(F) No Mercy event that happened in the U.K. I’ll give each show a brief review:
No Holds Barred: A relatively enjoyable box of cheese that features Hulk Hogan’s best work in his acting (or wrestling, for that matter) career. It’s a love/hate situation, as it is with any Hogan B-movie you happen to come across. The movie’s funniest moment is when Hogan’s character turns down a TV mongul’s offer, which supposedly pays millions. It’s funny because Hogan himself took up on a TV mongul’s offer, which does pay millions.
No Mercy U.K. : The typical U.K. pay-per-view, which is the typical quality PPV of the time period. It’s seems coincidental that I bought this tape, which features preliminary parody wrestler “Gillberg”, just a few days before Goldberg makes his RAW debut. Go figure.
I had more comments concerning the Smackdown spoilers, but that’s all they are, so I’ll save it for the predictions sheet.
On to other subjects:
I have completely lost track of my TMNT episodes! This is what happens when you have outside interference. If this keeps up, I’m gonna have to tape the repeats! Ahhhh!!!! Normally, this wouldn’t be such a big deal for me, but this is a show that has some continuity in it and hence, has to be taped in subsequent order.
I’ve uploaded chapter 8 of “The Weapon” around the same time I did the site update. I am working on the final chapters of this story before moving on to the next major story, Plague, which I hope to get done quickly in much less time. I don’t know if I’ll get back to “Hidden Battle” again, but we’ll see what happens in the coming weeks. In addition, I’m writing a small Tommy/Kim fic called “Closure”, which should be up by next week if I’m lucky.
While we’re on the subject of Power Rangers, have you noticed that PR Central and the deceased Funaroverse sites have been taken over by ABC? April Fool’s joke? Who knows?
Speaking of which, I should have done an update on April Fool’s Day, but alas I didn’t feel like it. Other guys can pull off better net pranks than I can and quite frankly, pranks are a one-day deal that isn’t worth the effort unless you’re truly dedicated to pulling it off and taking it off the next day. One of the better jokes was on Trekweb.Com, where they posted an article on the potential production of a Star Trek musical episode. Yes, I fell for the joke, but only because it could happen. Believe me, if Voyager went as far as to feature the Rock in a wrestling-themed episode, an Enterprise musical isn’t too far behind.
You have may have noticed that there hasn’t been much brought up concerning the war on the other side. Suffice to say that I would like to stay out of that zone of discussion, except to say that I hope those guys come back home alive and in one piece.
Enterprise is supposed to be taking a new direction, something about Florida and Cuba getting scorched towards the end of the season. When that happens, let me know.
This week hasn’t been particularly exciting. As a matter of fact, other than ‘Mania, there hasn’t anything eventful to bring up. I’ve just been bummed out, but I hope to get some stuff done this month. In any case, I should probably end this commentary here before I make a further ass of myself.
That said, take care folks.
