(2020 Update: This was the last edition of Dave’s Wrestling Rant, as I ended up talking about wrestling stuff in the Bite commentaries.)
Another rant from me… DAVE! If you enjoyed my brief TV reviews, thanks. Sorry I couldn’t put up the same thing last week, but I only watched RAW last week and figured it was not worth an entire rant, so I’ll leave last week’s comments here first…
Note: The whole commentary was written on Friday, but was never posted. Therefore, some items will be outdated. Just a head’s up.
HHH wins World title shot on last week’s Raw… Smell the ratings!
Speaking of which, this week’s Raw received a 3.x rating. Last week was a 3.4 and the week before was a 3.7. It goes to show you: HHH is ratings poison, not the nWo. Seriously, it all makes sense. Last week, HHH spoils a perfectly good Shawn Michaels vs. Rob Van Dam main event and this week, HHH books himself a title shot at the upcoming Pay-Per-View. This is sad, to say the very least. Whatever happened to the HHH who was a heel because it’s in his job description? Whatever happened to the “creating new stars and new storylines” charter that McMahon announced a couple months ago. In all honesty, if a HHH vs. HBK match is to occur, then I would rather see HBK’s title reign last a little longer than having to put up with HHH as a champion?
This week’s RAW ain’t that much better…
Now our RAW main event is a shitty 2-out-of-3 falls match with the multiple gimmicks deal. In addition, there is a four-team tag team title match… another example of the stupidity presented by our good friends at WWE… yep, Vince McMahon giving the fans what they want alright. That is, if Triple-H as champion is what the fans want and quite frankly, that doesn’t look to be the case.
I want Austin back… I don’t care if he can’t drink beer… I want Austin back…
NWA-TNA…
I haven’t seen it.
On Smackdown… what the [bleep]?!
Why is the Big Show still champion? And why do I get the feeling he’s going over?
A-Train? What a stupid name… and what a stupid move to push Albert… er, I mean, A-Train. Conveniently enough, he has train-related music. Crap.
John Cena, the guy people compared to a young Sting, is now a rapper with his compatriot, Bull Buchanan a.k.a. B-Squared.
This edition’s Matt Facts: There are no Matt Facts. He’s been shoved to obscurity.
That’s all for this rant. See you next week. (Or not.)
