So, as the header of this post implies, this is going to be my last weekly Impact musings… and no, the show hasn’t sucked that bad to scare me off.
On the contrary, the past 19 weeks worth of Impact viewing has been a fun ride that more than made up for the latter half of 2023 when I was revisiting old NWA-TNA PPVs and ultimately regretting it. And while there have been some less than thrilling episodes of Impact that left me with little to say, for the most part, the show has remained a consistent, easy-to-watch two hours of wrestling action. Probably the nicest surprise I got this year was being able to sit through nearly 3-4 months of TNA Impact and actually enjoying it. Imagine that scenario.
That said, I’ve reached the point where… while I’m more than content to continue watching the show on a weekly basis, there is no real need for me to continue to write about the show on a weekly basis, especially when there are episodes that has me saying very little and I’m just posting something up out of obligation. And I don’t want to do that because it feels like I’m not giving my all. Also, with the blog officially being opened up, there’s going to be a need to work on stuff for that in the future and part of that involves lessening the wrestling output. Yes, this is one of those things that gets quite a bit of coverage on this blog, but it’s not the only thing and I want to highlight some other stuff of interest going forward.
So this is the episode I’m ending this weekly run on. After this, if there’s an episode that I want to touch on, I’ll do so… but we’re not doing the weekly thing anymore. Too much, too soon, all that jazz.
Let’s get into it.
This past Thursday’s edition of Impact was all about the Champions’ Challenge match; a massive 16-person tag-team match pitting all the current TNA champions against their potential or would-be challengers. And wouldn’t you know it? Joe Hendry is one of those potential challengers, which means his lovely mug stays on the banner.
So it’s a big 8-on-8 tag team match, 20 minutes of moves and stuff, and eventually, Mustafa Ali – your reigning X-Division champ whom nobody likes because nobody tags him – decides to fuck off and leave his fellow champions hanging. Hey, what do you want the guy to do? If you ain’t gonna tag him, why bother sticking around? So, long story short, Joe Hendry scored the winning pinfall for his team because Joe Hendry is amazing and the world believes in Joe Hendry… unless you’re Tony Khan. Otherwise, he would have stolen Joe Hendry from TNA ages ago when he had the chance… and he didn’t. His loss; Joe Hendry would’ve solved AEW’s ratings woes right then and there, but instead, he’s in TNA keeping that company relevant.
And then PCO came and gave Steph De Lander a flower… because sure, why not?
The rest of the show… well, I’ll be honest. I pretty much skimmed through most of it just so I can watch the Champion Challenge match, which I hope they don’t beat into the ground every couple weeks or something. Save it for big occasions. I will note that both this and the last show had a good interview segment with Mike Santana talking about time away from TNA and his family and stuff. It’s touching, endearing stuff that gives Santana some much-needed character work that he probably didn’t get during his last days in AEW. I liked that bit.
Quick note: I’ll be doing one more episode of Impact musings before I put this series to be for a brief bit. Next month has a bunch of other stuff going on and I’d much rather focus on that with what little time I’ve got coming up.
Yes, we’re keeping Joe Hendry in the banner until he bores the shit out of me… and that’s not likely to happen anytime soon, I think. Unfortunately, Mr. Hendry didn’t make an appearance on this show; the most we get is a video package and… yeah, while I may believe in Joe Hendry, my faith in TNA to do things right… well, it never existed in the first place and it’s a fluke that I’ve been enjoying this show for as long as I have.

So this is up later than sooner… sorry about that. Been busy with other stuff… BUT to sort of make up for it, I’ll see about posting tonight’s episode’s musings this weekend… not tomorrow because that’s when the Backlash show is going up.
Anyway, I haven’t seen the Under Siege show that took place last weekend that this episode of Impact serves as the go-home show for… but I did see Joe Hendry’s wonderful concert and his heartfelt apology to the Top Dollar guy who used to host that A&E special on WWE collectables. I don’t mention Joe Hendry much round these parts, but this man is a keeper, he has talent both on the mic and in the ring, his theme song is quite catchy, and he can put on a better, more entertaining concert than DWAYNE… there, I said it, come at me, bros.
Meanwhile, there’s the rest of the show, which doesn’t quite match the glee and joy I got from that one segment, but there was some good stuff here.

This was the Rebellion go-home show and for anyone asking, yes, I did watch the Rebellion PPV and a musings will be posting this coming Wednesday… and yes, I actually chose a TNA PPV over a stacked AEW PPV… no regrets; I can go back to that other show at any time, but naturally, this episode being the last before a big TNA PPV… eh…

Is this the go-home show for TNA’s Rebellion PPV? Or is it a total one-match show where everything is just padding before the tremendous Monsters Ball match between PCO and Kon? Has anyone considered renaming Kon to Khan or is that a little on the nose?
Honestly, I’ve got little to say about this show other than it was mostly furthering storylines and builds toward the upcoming PPV. I liked the opening bit with Josh, Hammerstone, and Dreamer, who was bound to get beat up because we’re in the old ECW Arena and there’s a mandate somewhere that Tommy Dreamer MUST ABSOLUTELY GET KILLED in this arena… clearly, Hammerstone didn’t get the memo because he merely beat up Dreamer a bit and let him live.
Speaking of things getting killed, that Monsters Ball match sure was a spectacle. Was it a great match by any means? Probably not, but tabarnac, it was fun, sti. Any chance I get to see PCO let loose and be an absolute beast of a monster is one I will cherish every single goddamned time and I sure wasn’t disappointed here.

What does this have to do with TNA? Absolutely nothing… but I understand they also have a guy named Cody under contract. Maybe we can convince him to finish his story… whatever that ends up being.
