So this is what I wanted to try out. Take one of my older levels and fill those empty rooms with bosses. This isn’t uploaded onto the server; it’s just an experiment I’ve been fiddling around with.
Actually, I might do a little run of these “updated” levels somewhere down the line. We’ll see.
This level – the second MarathonMan level – was done in a day, basically recycles bits and bobs from actual MM levels, and even some of my other stuff. It’s a long level with only two checkpoints, but really emphasizes the marathon mentality. There’s a couple tricky bits, but you should be fine. All three heroes are playable and work within the level just fine.
On a sidenote, I enjoyed the editing in this sampler video, where the in-game music determines the cuts and transitions. It’s sometimes nice to do a smooth little edited thing every once in a while.
The silent launch of Marathonman begins with a level inspired by the hidden Mega Man a minigame from one of the Mega Man ZX games. I’ve had to rebuild this level when I discovered that you can’t upload a level started under another name… hence the long delay of Marathonman levels.
In lieu of showcasing the whole level, I offer five minutes of sampler footage showing off bits of the level, which can be played with either Mega Man or Proto Man.
Another short Wily Challenge… and yes, it’s two times the fun for one particular level; an obvious shortcoming of the random nature of Wily Challenge.
In other news, I’m uploading a couple levels. One to the usual account, but also the other to Marathonman… which is finally taking shape. I may also concoct another channel down the line for when the eventual first channel reaches its maximum quota.
I’ve got a bunch of these short Wily Challenge runs recorded for those who care for that sort of thing and will be posting these on a semi-weekly basis. I’d normally save this for Sunday, but due to aforementioned technical circumstances, you’re getting one today.
My medium Wily Challenge run played on Jan-09-2019; no commentary or text pop-ups. Only gameplay.
I’d normally post this on the Archive channel, but I forgot to switch channels and just posted here. So there you go. Normal operations resume in February.
Some notes worth mention: one level gets skipped and one level loads twice.
